High School Football Budgets

$450,000 does not seem unbelievable when some Lex. high school cheerleaders spend $125,000 a year. When you consider al the equipment and the number of players. I know I am in the minority but I for one do not believe it is a good thing for high school teams to travel the country playing games, and I include basketball. I think this is one of the reasons young student athletes have the "attitude" they have. I think teams should only be allowed to travel over the border into the next state to play and no further. Like I said I know I will be in the minority on this but it is how I feel.

What does traveling around the US to play good High School football programs have to do with there attitudes. I like seeing the team from South Carolina that was #2 in the nation play a team from Florida that was #5. Where else are you going to get that type of a matchup unless you travel the nation. I say if the schools can afford it and are willing then there is nothing wrong with it. I remember when De La Salle was in its amazing win streak it would travel to Hawaii to play football games and it brought alot of exposure to there program which i thought was good.

As long as the money is generated in a legal and ethical manner...ie. donations, fundraising...etc. I have no problem if a school raises $1 million for their athletic programs. If you have the resources and means to do so, more power to you.

It goes without saying that academics should be financially taken care of first, after that...good luck. Your job as a teacher or coach is to prepare your kid for the next level. If that's the ACT or playing across the country for exposure...you do it.

I remember reading a few years ago that the high school in Texas that Friday Night Lights was based on (Odessa I think?) had their own 'team plane' at one point. I think it was one of their boosters private plane, but it was made avaiable to them whenever they needed to use it. At the time they played several games in California and used it so they wouldn't have to miss several days of school to travel. I think it may have even been used once to fly a California team to Odessa. Their stadium also seats 20,000 people.

20,000 isn't that the capacity of Putnam?

Yeah they just completed a 14,000 seat expansion 12 minutes ago.

I wonder how much Elder's budget is. They must make $250,000 a year just on regular season home games.

Who has the biggest budget amongst KY school?

20,000 isn't that the capacity of Putnam?

Your joking right? There isn't a highschool stadium in the state that will hold 20,000. I would guess there isn't one in the state that will hold half that without bringing in temporiary bleachers.

I think you have to go to Texas to find any high school stadiums that big. Elder's Pit is considered huge, yet only holds about 12,000.

Manual stadium's stated capacity is 10,000. They were expecting 12,000 for the Old Rivalry last year. Not sure what the final attendance was though.

I think Male's stadium capacity (seated, not standing) is around 8,000. H, can you confirm the correct number?

How much are tickets to games there?

Good glad that is complete so when Russell comes in Friday they will have plenty of seating to watch the Devils go down. I was just kidding of course not about the Devils going down but about the field. I think the field at Bath Co might seat 20,000 but you have to sit indian style and really close together.
