Tigers were up 3-0 early in the 3rd Quarter (11:36?) when there was a 30 minute delay due to the lightning in the area. After the delay, Beechwood got things going with a safety and then returned the free kick for a touchdown for the 12-0 lead midway through the 3rd. I was working the concession stand at the game and the stands cleared out during the weather delay.

I was really hoping to see Lloyd finally snap the streak against Beechwood. I dont believe in moral victories, but I really want to take something positive away from this on account of the score being close, but I just cant. Home field advantage is huge (I know some disagree) so the Tigers had an advantage there. Wet conditions hinder both teams so thats a draw. Lloyd had the size advantage and expierance, so I'm kinda stunned. This is not news I wanted as I pack leaving my vacation.

Lloyd proved they can stop the run but need work on the pass. I would like to see how many rushing yards Beechwood had.

Beechwood's young line sure got a baptism by fire tonight. Lloyd loaded the box, blitzed the house and dared the Tigers to throw the ball and Beechwood just kept running the ball between the tackles. A lot, and I mean a whole lot, of work to get the Beechwood offense on track.

 

The defense on the other hand was great. If they can keep playing defense like that, then the offense just needs to be good enough to get a few points up and that will get wins. Beechwood played tonight without one of their best defensive players, linebacker Trevor Soward, and still got the shutout.

I wish I could say that, but there was nothing classic about this one. Mistakes. Dropped passes. Unimaginative offense. 3 yard punts - two of them. Turnovers. And that is both teams. It was UGLY.
