Congrats to the Holy Cross Community. A great job by Coach Koz in keeping the team in it until they were able to get themselves together. They made some adjustments and wore the Holmes team down. The inside running of Walker and Baker were punishing, while Penny was able to give them a change of pace on the outside.

They perfectly called the TD pass that put them in the lead. Abeling hit the Sullivan kid in stride and earned the "Hot Dog" play of the game for TV.

Baker was a beast on defense.

On TV it seemed like he was everywhere.

Holy Cross was able to get by Scott last week and they were able to come back against Holmes. That is two wins against 4A teams and they get a shot at SK next week.

They were poised and executed very well from the second quarter on.

What offense was Holmes running? A chinese fire drill? They had illegal procedures, chop blocks, motion penalties, personal fouls...you name it, it was called.

Holmes has some kids that can really run. I was impressed with the Miller kid and Palmer kid. They can make things happen when they get past the line of scrimmage. That seemed to be a problem though. Anytime Holmes tried to pass the ball Jefferson was running for his life. I think the only pass that Holmes completed was a screen pass. If they get the ball to their skill kids outside, they can create some problems.

Holmes's defense seemed gassed by the 3rd quarter.

How many kids are going both ways for Holmes?

This has to be a major setback for Holmes, the shine is off their win from last week. South Laurel got beat by 40+ points tonight.

Who does Holmes have next?

Can Holmes not find a Kicker on the soccer tam? AT least for Fridays nights?

Wow. What an ugly game to watch .

If I'm Coach Trosper after watching 22 penalties completely cost me the game, there would be no strategy sessions in the first practice. We would simply run and run and run to enforce some discipline. That was one of the worst displays of football IQ that I've seen in quite a while.

Nice job by the center and guards for HC. I know Staubitz is one guard but I don't know the other two. That was the game for HC. They dominated the middle.

Wow, the upset of the night as far as I'm concerned.

By the way, the AD from Holmes made it very clear at halftime that he isn't excited to be going into a district with Highlands and CovCath (when asked to list the district opponents he omitted Dixie). He said that if he knew people were playing up they may have considered moving up themselves. Not sure that was the best approach, but I appreciate his honesty. I'm sure Coach Trosper, who grew up down the street from me in Florence, would have appreciated a bit more confidence.

I saw the interview with the AD. He sure doesn't come off very well, does he?

He said that the KHSAA should have informed him that other school were moving up into his district so then he could move to another. So do we then let the schools in Holmes new district decide if they want to change? IF so, how far does game go?

2-0 vs 4a

A couple of real 4A powerhouses too I might add.

:thumb: Watched the replay of the game today and I would have to agree but where does that discipline and football IQ come from..? Maybe the coach and his staff should be out in front leading the running that you suggest..

And a 4A school that doesn't have someone who can even kick an extra point. Did I hear that right on the telecast?

Did Holmes o line have a lot of penalties and who had them called on them?
