A guy overdosed while driving on I-75 and I-275 yesterday. Somehow he managed to not hit any other vehicles but totaled his car and took out a good portion of the cable barrier on I-275 eastbound just before the Independence exit.

 

The squad was able to Narcan him and save his life. Per the usual he had just gotten heroin in Cincinnati and couldn't wait to use it. Really don't know how he didn't kill someone on the interstate.

 

That's a clear and present danger in society.

That's about as funny as it gets. So drug addicts have a right to good clean illegal dope, and to not deliver on that is an injustice. It's the dealers fault that people are Od-ing, not the addicts themselves for doing heroin.

Update: Suspect arrested in rash of overdoses that killed two in Cabell County

 

Obviously there are many more people involved other than this man, but at least it seems to be getting some serious attention from local and federal agencies.

I do get it. It's seems different when it becomes personal. I'm just a BIG ​personal responsibility guy. No excuses.

On the radio this morning, a DJ said he spoke with a judge recently who said the majority of people she sees in her courtroom for heroin got there by way of prescription drugs for some injury.

 

At least that is the story they told the Judge. Far be it for a junkie to lie or try to gain sympathy to get off the hook for their crimes.

Perhaps the PC agenda of labeling something as a disease rather than identifying it as a human failure. And of course if something is a disease, maybe there will be grants (lots of free money from the government) available to fund research. Research done by, wait for it, wait for it... Scientists!

Or they were taking them illegally to begin with. I know it can happen and some instances are from people with injuries getting addicted. I refuse to believe that is the majority in these situation. These people are habitual drug users and want to get high.

There was also a recent bust from another man from Ohio that was linked to the overdoses in the Marcum Terrace area in Huntington. Today the HPD had a massive roundup at Marcum Terrace, again focusing on the heroin epidemic. Of the 22 people detained, none were local residents.
