The four large private schools are X, T LexCath and Cov Cath. The others are all markedly smaller.

Beechwood is a public school.

Trinity's football and basketball coaches teach a full schedule I don't know about the coaches at other schools.

Trinity has a very good program for learning diabled students and their campus meets or exceeds all federal standards for accessability and I can think of at least two young men with cerebral palsy (one confined to a wheelchair) that not only attended but flourished at Trinity.

How much tuition does a student in a public schools pay?

It depends on whether they live in the district that the school is setup to serve or not. And the amount could vary based upon what the school board that is elected by the community that the school is setup to serve by the state determines it to be.

Finally, you say that a majority favors segregation. It's interesting that you chose that word. In the 60's the majority opposed civil rights laws and desegregation of schools. History has shown they were wrong. While I in no way shape or form say that this issue has anywhere the significance of the civil rights movement, I use it as an illustration of a majority not only being over ruled but being completely wrong.

I said the same things months ago, and of course I got no response.

And LBBC, the 4A Football schools in NKy can't even beat the 1A or 3A school up here, so why complain about not being able to compete with X or T.

BTW why are there no complaints about the Public School owning the boys sweet sixteen. If X and T (which I could care less about) weren't winning the titles, no one would be complaiing about football either....

You know, at one point I thought this was just funny, and then I thought it was really a rural vs. urban complaint. However, the longer this goes on, the more I am beginning to think that maybe just maybe (I am going to say this even though it might not be PC) to some on the public side it has religious overtones, and I am really sorry to be saying that.....

I know that to be true.

And believe me, not all public schoools take in the disabled students that come their way. But that's another discussion for another time.

Well I am glad to know that we all are providiing quality and equal education for all. I was led to believe that Privates could refuse someone from enrolling. Where is a public school that is all male or all female?

Girls coaches have been rumbling for awhile now. But unfortunately, since they are "girls" sports, they don't get the attention that a boys sports will.

As far as the last paragraph, my thread where I gave my ideas on how to do the split was on a rural/urban or open enrollment split and NOT a public/private split. Others I can't speak for.

Where is a public school that is all male or all female?

There are several of both in Louisville.

Public Schools in Louisville that are all Male and all Female.....please:scared: :scared: provide me with the names of these schools.....new one on me...17 years and now this bomb is dropped

Oh I thought you meant privates I misread. Well that would be none but what does that have to do with anything?

You tell me Delta....give me 750 boys and you 250 and see who can come up the best team.......I am not a smart man, but I know what common sense is...

It is not the same....that is the bottom line....private schools do not have to live by the same standards as public schools...no one is downing them...just let them compete for the championships with their cohorts....and the publics will do the same...is that asking too much? Majority of the schools want this....what thrill do they get beating a rural school with 80 percent free and reduced lunch...a cow pasture for a football field and stuff like that....no one is blaming a kid for the private school experience...just allow the privates to play for it and the publics...that is the point.

LBBC my comment about Public/Private wasn't directed toward you. I have read your comments, respect your views, and understand where your are coming from.

I do understand your comments about girls basketball but gee, NDA has only been to the sweet sixteen one time in the history of the school. Now Volleyball and Soccer that is different, but it has only been in the last couple of years that the public schools have put any interest in those sports, while the Catholic schools have been involved in them for years and years. I really think if it weren't for the Catholic High School and Grade schools, the sports program for girls would be no where it is today, but then again girl sports still have a long way to go.....

Evidently nobody has told you but same gender schools get their enrollment doubled to determine their class.

If numbers are so important...

Then please explain to me why private schools haven't been able to dominate basketball?????

Or why don't the 4A schools in Northern Kentucky beat their 1 2 and 3 A counterparts regularly on the football field????

In the history of the Class A tournament, one Class A public school has won the 9th region girls basketball tournament and advanced to the state tournament. That school was Walton-Verona (who is in the 8th region now) and I believe in the first year.

I applaud the privates for their commitment to girls sports.

Private schools have won, I believe, the last 5 basketball crowns and 6 of the last 7. They also have been two private schools in the championship game in 3 of the last 4 championship games, I think.

That is unless you don't consider girls basketball being HS basketball cause I sure do.;)

Let's see UHA, Lex Catholic, New Cath, Cov Cath, Trinity, St Henry, Owens Cath, have all had pretty nice runs in the basketball circles.......in recent years......not bad for the 16 private schools in the state....whereas the publics have had more championships, the privates have had more high class teams per number of teams.

Double the numbers....triple the numbers facts are facts...guess we all agree to disagree. I think about half the private schools in the state have made it to the basketball Sweet 16 or All A in the last 10 years,,,,,,no way half the public schools have...some kinda advantage it seems..
