I figured this thread would be blowing up. It's Tuesday and only 16 posts?

I replied to what he had said before going back and reading my statement. In the scrimmage against Greenup Co, west was not a good team. Did they play better against Raceland yeah I think so. They still are not as good as they were last year. Probably in fact not a very good team. Bad team may have been extreme.

 

 

Raceland isn't as good as they were last year either. So, if West Carter is "bad team" or "not a very good team" what does that make Raceland? I bet Raceland doesn't shut Greenup out in a couple of weeks. Raceland will have a winning record this fall and get beat in the playoffs by a team from south east Kentucky. West Carter will likely do the same.

Russell is better than most think. Greenup might be improved, but I believe Russell will make a statement with a blowout win in this game.

The last three years, Greenup has had a 4th quarter lead in this game only to have Nick Conley snatch victory away from them. Hopefully, #4 can ruin Greenup's night a little earlier than usual.

 

I think Drey Boehm will make his presence felt in a big way either in the passing game or return game. Maybe both. He could be primed for a big year. Same goes for Austin Smith. By season's end, I think people will know his name like they know Conley's.

 

Russell's D can't let Cade Warnock get going. He's incredibly strong and runs hard between the tackles. He could take a lot of pressure off of their new QB. Force Hunt to win the game for the Musketeers.

Cade is just one piece of the puzzle Russell will have to stop. Jackson, Wright, Clarke, and Hunt throwing it... Greenup has been all defense in the past but Grizzle is just what we needed to take the next step. I see it being close but I also see Greenup winning by 2 scores. Russell hanging with Burg in a scrimmage is great but 1 its a scrimmage and 2 Wheelersburg is going to be down this year.

Anybody know how many times Greenup Co. has beaten Russell in Football? I know they have played a lot through the years, just curious.

I'm not 100% certain, but I want to say it's 7 or 8 wins for Greenup over Russell all time. The Greenup wins that I know of for sure were in 2010, 2000, 1998, and 1978. There may be 3 or 4 more scattered out over the years.

Just glad this game is on Saturday so I can attend. Greenup has been so close maybe that get over the hump this time.

Just sticking up for West Carter in a reasonable way. A ram fan was on this board posting about how West Carter is a "bad team". I was just trying to point out that none of the teams mentioned have destroyed West Carter lately. So if they are so bad, how good does that make a team that can't put them away with ease. Just like last year, after the Raceland West game, I pretty much knew how both teams seasons would play out. I wish both teams the best and admire the Raceland program. Just as last year, not being a hater, just giving what I think is my realistic opinion.

All of Greenup's wins in this series have come at home. GC has never won at Russell.
