Oh, so now sons are the only ones forgetting their lunch?!

I should have clarified in the original post. This is from the Catholic High School for Boys in Little Rock.

I should have clicked the link. I just hadn't found anything to be outraged about today, so here we are.

Brilliant. Not sure what they give them in lieu of lunch, but well played.

The hungry part was the one most criticized. Article mentions teenagers should carry a small amount of cash or be able to borrow from friends.

Since it's a private school I'm not 100% against it, especially being a high school. As has been mentioned I'd wonder about the not able to eat lunch part, maybe the school can bill the parents to cover the school lunch.

Like it. That's the way my parents handled it. If I didn't get my homework done when I was told, forgot to bring my books, my gym clothes, etc., that was on me. They sure as hell would not drop the stuff off at school for me. And if they found out I forgot stuff, I was lectured about responsibility.

And by the way, it only took me once or twice of forgetting my bagged lunch to never forget it again.

Am I the only one that finds stuff like this tiresome?

For God’s sake if my anxious child forgets something – do us all a favor and let me bring it. On the other hand if my happy go lucky kid forgets something, they probably didn’t notice, truly won’t care, and I know they’ll be fine.

This policy has zero impact on the future problem solving of my child.

Brings up a good issue about parents in the school building. I dont think it should be allowed period, for any reason. Think about it, how many of those parents have had a background check done? Does the school really know who they are and their past?

I can only speak for small community schools, but yes in most instances. Can't say with any certainty they do background checks, but like I said, it's a small community, so basically everyone knows, especially within the school system.

For our school district, parents can volunteer to help in the classroom, plan parties, etc.

To do so, a school issued volunteer card is required and a background check is done to obtain one.

That narrows down a few, what about the ones that just drop something off? what about the ones that come in and attend and event or function, were they checked?
