More schools coming in Boone Co?

 

Meet your new neighbors: 8,000 homes planned for Boone

 

Meet your new neighbors. You’re bound to have some with the more than 8,000 new residences planned for Boone County.

 

According to the Boone County Planning Services GIS Active Subdivision List, there are 5,270 single-family residences and 3,699 multifamily residences to be built.

 

While some developments are underway, like Ballyshannon and Triple Crown in Union, many are in the process of clearing ground, including Rivers Pointe Estates in Hebron and Valley Creek Farms in the Pleasant Valley corridor.

 

The Active Subdivision List breaks Boone County down into sections, North Hebron, Hebron, Burlington, Pleasant Valley Road, Florence, West Florence, Richwood, Walton-Verona and Union.

Maybe, Coach Engler is a slyer fox than what most might know. He has Private school background. He knows that Boone County has about 4000-5000 homes being built in the Boone County district over the next 2-3 years, which will have some athletes moving in I'm sure.

Maybe he thinks that playing a premier team in Ohio will help show where his team is and where they need to go. Potential players/parents may like that idea. playing talent creates talent! Great way to show interested athletes/parents what your goals are. Just my opinion!

 

Are most of the new constructions you mentioned being built in the Ryle School District. It was my understanding that most of the new builds will be in the Cooper District. I think there is a new subdivision being built just across the street from Cooper. Based on that, Cooper should be the place to be within the next couple of years.

Devils advocate makes me wonder if they couldn't find anyone else to fill a date. Easy trip to the West Side for the rematch. Good competition. Nothing to see here except that LaSalle is a GCL team made up of some of the best athletes in the area while Ryle has kids from Union and a few transfers sprinkled in.

I really wish this was last year and this year. Ryle doesn't have as much to lose as LaSalle does. When Ryle wins these games, the loss counts for LaSalle. Every Kentucky team gets into the playoffs so Ryle will use it to grow.

Well that may be true that most of the homes are in Coopers district, but can one school handle all of the new growth? I don't think so! Hopefully Boone County school board has been proactive in their planning and either have some type of redistricting plan or another high school plan. If not the schools are in big trouble space wise, teacher wise, resource wise!

 

As far as sports, creates another headache also. just think if you have 50-60 kids in every class. That is a hefty price tag for football considering the cost to field a player.

You may have 50-60 as frosh but when 15 -20 realize they will never see the field they will move on to another sport or quit all together leaving probably 25-30 by the time they are seniors.

All this talk about big schools is NKY need to beef us schedule Ryle does and everyone blast it. Damned if you do Damned if you don't on BGP!!!

Do you think the school board would re-draw the district lines to prevent overcrowding at one school while other schools have empty seats? I would think that would come before adding onto one of the existing schools. Of course it's always a very unpopular option.
