I get what you're saying. I do. But ultimately, it doesn't help to get your head beat in physically year-in and year-out by bigger, faster, stronger teams than yourself.

 

Colerain wanted to continue the series' with both Ryle and Highlands and were rebuffed. If "playing up" helps make you better, why wouldn't they do it?

They did continue to do it! Just because HHS didn't play your beloved Cardinals every year doesn't mean they quit anything. They chose to play others, including teams from Florida. You are trying to say they quit doing it. They didn't, they just played other teams. Don't act like they got spanked, learned their lesson and went back in their hole. They believed in it and continued doing it and got better because of it! How many other d2/d3 Ohio schools put the GCL teams on their schedule and compete with them?

This statement is not entirely true,, I think Ryle beat DeSalles (sp) team from Columbus a couple of years ago. Other than that, I think they have lost pretty convincingly to the other Ohio teams they played.

 

Ryle went 1-1 against DeSalles.

Maybe, Coach Engler is a slyer fox than what most might know. He has Private school background. He knows that Boone County has about 4000-5000 homes being built in the Boone County district over the next 2-3 years, which will have some athletes moving in I'm sure.

Maybe he thinks that playing a premier team in Ohio will help show where his team is and where they need to go. Potential players/parents may like that idea. playing talent creates talent! Great way to show interested athletes/parents what your goals are. Just my opinion!

My speculation also... The next few years are not so easy to foresee. Have to wait to see some jv games. I know a few frosh kids playing up and dressing varsity but the rest is a wait and see situation.

That many homes? That has to be more than 7000 kids I would think!

More schools coming in Boone Co?

They are adding on to Ryle right now! Conner is busting at its seams, I think Cooper is also. Boone County itself has room I believe but they way the district is aligned none of those homes will be feeding into Boone County. No sure what will happen, but the Boone county school board should be concerned in my opinion.

Ryle has no business playing Ohio teams, especially after losing the best QB in school history. It will be a very lopsided score.
