Schools in North Carolina have lost their minds

No, the baseline of my argument is that we need a common educational standard between all states to ensure a kid isn't denied entry to a college because his high school curriculum is inadequate.

You can do that without the Federal government.

I wonder why it doesn't exist yet? Maybe it doesn't exist because each state doesn't currently set their own individual curriculum.

I find it funny how much credit you give the Federal government and act like their being involved in education doesn't have more to do with power than benefit of children. I needed this with my morning coffee thank you.

Morning coffee? Yikes, getting a late start to the day aren't we?

Also, I'm not going to talk to you in a condescending tone, but I find it interesting that you have such a deep distrust/ acceptance that the government's intent is nothing more than malice. You say that the government involvement is primarily for power purposes. Do you have any proof, or facts, that this is true?

The larger the government becomes and the more it makes decisions in our lives the underlying tone is always power. Even if good intentions, some of the best intentions have miserable results.

There are very few things that a large Federal government does efficiently. Bureaucracy breeds inefficiency. The further away the power of decision making gets away from the people it is intended to help the less those people are helped.

Private schools aren't immune to issues or crazy policies.

True, but nowhere near the scope of the policies that most Public schools enact.

As was said before, to each his own. Don't want to get into the public vs private debate.

Don't the SAT and ACT perform this function now? Most Universities base their acceptance rates on the scores from these tests. Of course other things factor in to admission standards, but these tests would give a good indication of whether or not a State curriculum is adequately preparing students for college.

NC school to teachers: Don't call students 'boys and girls' | Fox News

to those that argue " Oh that will never happen , don't worry about that issue " well I think people better start worrying.

For those that didn't read the link or do any sort of research, this is an OPINION piece from a Fox News contributor that clearly skews the "facts" to his "boogey man" agenda.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says there's no transgender curriculum, no ban on teachers saying 'boy' or 'girl' | The Charlotte Observer

Can blame the schools, they are only reacting to what is going on.

Dang it jpa2825....why did you have to go and present the facts when everyone was having so much fun getting riled up about misinformation?

It wasnt misinformation , it was information. It might have had an agenda , just like the folks pushing the whole gender confusion / bathroom issue .

I read the article linked in the above quote. It seems that the only reason the school system did not press its liberal transgender-friendly agenda is because of a Supreme Court decision. That article referred to another article in which this information is found. It wasn't until August 4 that the school district backed down from allowing males to go in the restroom and locker room facilities intended for females. They only backed down because of the court decision. The school district was, in fact, trying to force a transgender policy that allowed males in female facilities and vice versa. The article actually led off with the statement that this decision is "on pause" clearly indicating the intention of the school district to force this cultural sea-change on the parents and children in their school district. The local parents group spoke up and stopped this invasion of their children's privacy--for now.

My point was that the OP headline was about not being allowed to use the terms "boys" and "girls." If folks didn't click through and read the article, that's what they would have been left with. If they DID read the article (and opinion piece), they would have gotten part of the story. If they got the full, factual story, as you did, they'd have a more complete picture of things.

The "bathroom" issue has been flogged to death here and in the public arena and was not the main focus of either of the articles.

Gotcha, jpa. However, I suspect the "bathroom" issue is destined for many more rounds of pugilistic debate on this forum.
