Southern, IL Police Officer Shot

Roughly 45 minutes or so from Paducah. Suspects still on the loose. Suspected vehicle involved was found earlier this afternoon on fire in nearby Carterville, IL. Officer shot in the face and was flown to St. Louis where he remains in serious condition.

Obviously there is a lot on this locally here in deep WKY but strangely I have not seen any national mention. I guess this is to rural for the National Media to care. Carbondale is one of, if not the most dangerous cities in the USA which is shocking considering it is a city of roughly the size of Paducah and home to SIU.

When I worked at SIU in the early 80's it was well known that a fair amount of Chicago drugs came in via Carbondale. I'm guessing things haven't changed that much.
