Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Teens come across big snake in Wayne County Look at the size of that thing!
spindoc Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 My bro-in-law killed a timber rattler coming out of the campground at Grider Hill 2 weeks ago.
OlDog75 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I had no idea timber rattlers could live 20-30 years. Came across one on a path to a grist mill in North Carolina once. The only way I knew it was there was because it decided to rattle.....about 3 feet away from my feet.
Jumper_Dad Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 1. I wasn't shocked one that size was found down there...seen one approximately that size in Wayne County before. 2. I am shocked that it was found in town. A snake that big is generally found far from humans. 3. It's worth the risk of going to Wayne County to go to the Pool Room on the square for the greatest greasy hamburger around.
THE SHERIFF Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Interesting that the workers from the KY Reptile Zoo recommend to leave it be. I don't think so!

OlDog75 Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I think my heart would stop if that happened. I hate snakes! Believe me, something else almost happened when I heard the noise and looked down.
Content1 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 So the article recommends spraying said snake with a water hose...I'm thinking a 3" #6 shot out of a turkey choke would be more effective! :walk: I'm with OlDog on this deal. I would've dropped a deuce in a heartbeat if I stumbled across a timber rattler that size!
ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Yeah man, if I saw that in my backyard I'd blow it to smitherines.
The Professor Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I didn't think Timber Rattlers got that large but I see now that they do. I know Eastern Diamondbacks down south get huge as they get older, but most the Timbers I've seen aren't excessively big.
Content1 Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 And in case anyone needed extra motivation to eliminate said timber rattlers... timber rattler bites - Bing images I'm definitely spraying these snakes with a shotgun!!!
Jumper_Dad Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 The reason I wouldn't spray one with water is that all that does is make it crawl away...he's still going to be nearby and next time I might see him before stepping on him or he might decide he likes my yard and decide to move in. I'm not taking a chance on a rattle snake being left in my yard.
