SnottieDrippen Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I haven't seen even a whisper about a Jay Bruce for Yasiel Puig trade, but it's a lot of fun to consider. Here's the article that gave birth to the idea: MLB’s Nine Biggest Questions Before the Trade Deadline — The Ringer Can you think of any other fun trade scenarios to help us get through the dog days?
HammerTime Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I saw a few tweets come across about Puig, I don't see anyway that happens.
HammerTime Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 God no. He's terrible. A not exactly a model teammate from what people say. No thanks.
OlDog75 Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Why on God's green earth would the Redlegs want another headcase?
plantmanky Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Puig is just what this team needs. Imaging Puig + Votto
All In Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Would take this trade straight up in a minute and give them Lamb,Hoover and Simon whether they want them or not. The Reds have had Opie in RF all these years, shake it up some.
ColonelCrazy Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Puig makes $7.2 million this year. Next year he's going to earn $8.2 million, and in 2018 he'll bring in $9.2 million. He's a FA in 2019. We already have a "Can the Reds compete in 2018" thread -- adding Puig would be a set back for the organization, in my opinion.

How long can you keep a 30yo outfielder who's up for a new contract after next season if he doesn't opt out? Especially when Puig will make about 3/4 of what Bruce is scheduled to make this year and next, and statistically it's virtually a wash.

A plus defender, and in the grand scheme of things, not all that expensive. And he's under contract until 2019, so he'd have two years to prove himself at which time you either sign him or move on. Cincinnati is a much better hitters park than LA, and the change of scenery might benefit him.
