What happened that year?

East Carter beat Raceland after a nice comeback. Then West Carter beat Raceland on a last minute pass if I remember correctly. Two losses that shouldn't have happened giving the talent of the Raceland team in 2007. If you overlook anyone, you will get beat.

 

I hope the 2016 team learns this lesson in theory, not action.

There were several games from 2006-2008 that the Rams lost that they shouldnt have. Three games against LCA come to mind. Imo, those three teams were the best consecutive teams that Raceland has put on the field. 2013-2016 could possibly challenge that, but they will have to amend alot of things this season from last year to do so. Anyone hearing anything about special teams? Thats always a glaring spot for improvement.

Tonight is the final night of team camp. So far, I am impressed with the work ethic and the intensity. Need to keep the reps going and we get to hit someone else in a little over a week.

This is the first year in the 11 years I've been here that not 1 person quit during team camp. Generally, we lose 1, maybe 2. So, I'm not sure if that's a good thing yet.....

I was sorry to hear about the one injury to one of the promising younger kids, H. Lacks (soph.). I talked to a family member tonight and was told it was a bad break on the ankle and was told he would be out 8-12 weeks.

Hunters spirits are pretty low right now so I am asking a prayer for him and a full recovery...thanks.

Intersquad Scrimmage was tonight. It was OK. A few kids stood out to me, outside of the usual names. Morgan Carmen looks poised for a great year at DE. Mauk and Willet's offseason work looks to have paid off. Octavious Hall looked good in the slot and could be the WR we missed last year. All in all nothing looked too rough. Its hard to take much away from these things.

Once the talent comes together to form one team instead of two separate squads like tonight i think this can be a dang good team. They have to make it happen though!

The Rams should have plenty of depth on the OL/DL this year with Wallace, Hall, Manis, Mauk, Carmen, Willet, Dixon, Fairchild, and Tanner. Any idea how the starting lines will look?

Alot of talk i am hearing is that the OL will consist of Mauk and Willett at gaurds, Tanner at Center, Dixon and Manis at Tackles. DL being Carmen and Manis at DE and Jerome Hall and Wallace at DT with Fairchild being the NG when we use a 5 man front. I know that has been the "goal" of camp. Now, there is no doubt in my mind that many of those roles will be rotated and interchanged at times. But it looks like several guys have stepped up and we should be really deep and fresh just about at all times upfront if all this is the case.

My guess is :

LG-Wallace

C-Fairchild

RG-Maui

RT-Hall

 

DEFENSE

DE-Carmen

DT-Hall

DE-Manis

NT-Fairchild (Occasional 5 man front)

 

It would surprise me if I'm off much on this, but I do believe that many Linemen will see quality playing time:

Harris

Willett

Dixon

Ferguson

Tanner

Wallace is a great two way lineman, but I think it'd be good for Raceland if someone stepped up to frequently spell him at gaurd. I'd want him to be as fresh as possible for defense. If he's 100%, he's one of the top interior DL in EKY.

I expect all OL starters to be rested frequently so they will have their legs as fresh as possible for late game defense. If a big enough lead, several DL substitutions will also be happening.
