I don't have the ability to read minds, but actively not choosing who you think the best VP would be, kind of makes me wonder. And maybe she does end up picking who she thinks is the best VP candidate. But I think picking a VP solely based on the potential votes it might bring, an not based on who would be the best VP, would be a disgrace to the position.

I don't think our last couple vice presidents have been that at all. Messrs. Biden and Cheney were longtime politicians that were bulldogs for the candidate during the campaign and experienced players in DC that could help the president push through an agenda when it came time to govern. I think that's why they were picked and each made a good vice president in that respect.

I honestly have no idea who the options are. For the record, I am not saying that she isn't going to pick the most qualified candidate. That was never my intent. My intent was to point out that, if she did forego the most qualified candidate for a lesser qualified candidate, in an attempt to pander to swing states, I wouldn't be entirely comfortable with it.

No and I sincerely doubt that would net more votes than it would lose. Then again, the GOP has their own celebrity sitting on the top of the ticket.

 

The point is our system is predicated on ambition. People are supposed to try to win and they are supposed to try to win by getting us to vote for them. In a democracy that will be messy, but it's probably better in the long run than an emperor and a hiring committee. I may someday eat my words on that, but it's worked for 200+ years so far.

Exactly. Ideally, you want the best possible VP but, first and foremost, you have to win and so you strategize.

Personally, I like both of these guys. Warren is too far left as is Bern for me not to mention Dems need them in the Senate.

 

If these are the 2 I'd take the Ag Sec. Pull Iowa and some moderate farmers.
