Case Western has to apologize for allowing police on campus

Featured Replies

The petition has a lot of foolishness in it, but this article's interpretation of the response is really interesting. Journalism on the Internet in these days leaves a lot to be desired.

I wasn't surprised to see the actual statements made by individuals involved were quite different than Glenn Beck's website's spin on them.

I didn't find much wrong with the petition. If I were a student living there I wouldn't be thrilled about the situation and their requests to clarify things like jurisdiction, conduct, and to be informed about the details don't seem unreasonable. It's neither unreasonable that the president would address those concerns. I can understand the mocking of the university's invocation of "safe spaces," but who cares?

Had this been at Liberty University or somewhere similar Glenn Beck likely would have needed to be pried out of the fetal position as he raved about the Third Amendment and Obama's Gestapo.

Who made them apologize?

From my perspective, this is crazy:

There is no chance I'd stay there under those conditions if I were them.

Offering counseling sessions ? We are talking about a few days

The thing I read said the counseling office would "continue to be open" - which doesn't sound like anything unique - due to "recent events," which surely includes a lot of the violence and turmoil happening these days. I don't find that contemptible.

Storing their weapons off campus, with police officers being targeted 5 or more times in the last two weeks...IMVHO, is STUPID!!!

If these kids are truly scared then I have no problem.

If these kids are trying to make a political statement due to all the anti cop stuff being said then it's wrong.

I'm guessing if they could interview random students around the campus the truth would come out.

I will give you credit. You are consistent on defending crazy college students.

If they just said dang their going to ruin our parties I'd get it.

Anyone who didn't read the primary sources and only read the Blaze article perhaps doesn't know the level of spin they were put through in that piece. It's remarkable.

I read everything. My position stands.

I assume that's a large motivation behind their petition.

I'm not defending them so much as throwing water on Outrage Inc. A lot of this stuff is just trying to find someone or something to sneer at.

I 100% enjoy mocking liberal college students. Started in Sociology 101 and has never stopped.

I figure as much. :lol2: I also assume more than a few libertarians were involved in the petition too.

I just didn't think it made sense. Just because cops are sleeping there doesn't mean you lose rights. If it were felons or convicted rapist I'd get it.

Plus let's not forget the campus is basically empty right now. I spend one day a week there. They've canceled all events.

Why? Sorry, but that make no sense to me.
