Week 2: Holmes vs Holy Cross

Featured Replies

The annual Covington rivalry will take place Friday night.

Holmes is coming off of a solid road victory over a good South Laurel team and Holy Cross is coming off an emotional come from behind win over Scott. Who wins this game and why? Since the two have been playing, HC has only beaten Holmes once and normally have been dominated but lately the scores have been kinda close.

I'm gonna go with the Dawgs in this one big though. Jefferson and CO. will have the offense rolling in this one and the defense will come in fired up.

Holmes 40

Holy Cross 7

I don't know if it will be that big of a blowout, but I do feel from what I have seen from the two. Holmes may have to much speed for HC to handle in the long run. HC on the other hand does have the slight size advantage. My prediction will come later in the week, I want to see how our kids look this week in practice. In this game you can through out stats and skill players, This is an emotional game for both teams. These kids know each other and both want to walk away with the win. Holy cross will come in knowing they just beat a 4A team and will be pumped up for a battle at Holmes. Holmes is coming in off a big road victory over a decint SL team that will grow as the season goes along. Good luck to both teams, we know where my alliance is. I have lots of friends on both sides of the field.

Holmes-35

HC-14

Holmes by 35, if not more. Holy Cross has a solid team, but Holmes' skill players should dominate this game.

Holmes 41-13.

HOLMES 30

Holy Cross 17

Let's remember Holy Cross' #1 back did not play and #2 left game for a long time suffering from cramps. I think if both those guys go this week you may see a different offense than in the Scott game. I really don't foresee a blowout in this one. One thing is these two coaches have a tremendous amount of repect for each other and both are class individuals and if one team were pulling away by a lot there would be a lot of underclassmen getting serious PT.

Holmes 42

Holy Cross 21

HC will get some late scores the Bulldogs will sub early if they get out to a big lead. Im like Doggy Dawg I want to see the Indians do well just not this week.

The Holmes Bulldogs will shoot down the Holy Cross Indians by a score of Holmes 40 HC 7..bang bang

1. Football rivalry is alot like the basketball one in the past, with alot of covington kids playing for HC and growing up with Holmes players.

2. Holmes skill players should be key to the game

3. HC might have advantage on lines

Holmes is the favorite. Holmes 28 HC 17

HC having the advantage on the lines, I dont agree with that Holmes has one of the leading rushers (R Covington) and a running wild quarterback and you dont have those without a good o line. see the post from fballstud about the Holmes front line most teams will spend alot of time on the ground.

Holy Cross is a little banged up but rallied for a 24-21 win over 4A Scott last week. Holmes opened with a nice win as well.

I think the Holmes speed overcomes the Holy Cross size in this city battle.

Predictions?
