Week 2: Holmes vs Holy Cross

Featured Replies

Holmes by a good margin...the game 1A bunch comes back down to Earth a notch. No shame for Holy Cross losing this game though, I'm sure Koz still is focusing on the 1A opponents down the stretch.

HC having the advantage on the lines, I dont agree with that Holmes has one of the leading rushers (R Covington) and a running wild quarterback and you dont have those without a good o line. see the post from fballstud about the Holmes front line most teams will spend alot of time on the ground.

:thumb: Beat me to it. I dont know if you've seen Holmes line or not BigStud but trust me they're not small. Smallest lineman probably goes about 6'1 215 give or take a few pounds. HC might have the weight advantage but thats not going to mean anything if they're getting beat off the line by much faster linemen. Tommy Britton and Mike Sharp are monsters on the line and will definetly line up and smack you in the mouth every play. 6'5 Terrence Clark and Dustin Wilson will anchor the quick side of the line. 400 + yards of total offense in the game against South Laurel speaks for itself of how good this offense is.

Not trying to put HC down because i have friends and family with ties to the school, but this years Holmes team will be too much for the Indians. Holmes speed on both sides of the ball is going to be the X-factor.

Thanks Stud that is the best line I have seen Holmes with in along time, Im not just saying that because Mike is my nephew but they come to play and a couple of years in a row at the Michigan camp didnt hurt them and Coach JONES is on those guys to play all and leave it on the field.

Yea that Michigan camp and Coach Jones has really brought the offensive line along nicely. Too bad these boys arent juniors so we could see them all play in the district against Highlands and Covcath next year.

Will you be attending the game on Friday?

No I have a buddy pass but forgot about my fantasy draft being Saturday and think I either want to come in for labor day or a game after that. I have to come soon Im getting married the day after the Holmes-Dixie game so that locks that weekend up.

Well let me know when your coming in. But I think with the new work schedule I might miss quite a few games :madman:

I do not look for Holmes to have any trouble with Holy Cross or Pendleton. The pre-season schedule will not help Holmes to prepare for the better teams in 4A district play. You only get better by playing good teams in non-district games.

Holmes is going to play Holy Cross every year, no matter what. It's a rivalry that has always been around. As far as other scheduling, SOuth Laurel is a very tough team and it's kind of hard to pick and choose your schedule when you only have 3 non-district games. Next year, IF Holmes has the same type of schedule, then you can say something. I understand where you're coming from, But until then... :sssh: Thanks

So, you are telling me that Pendleton, a brand new program, was scheduled in order to strengthen your team for district play or just pick up an easy win? South Laurel is not a very tough team IMO and would win 1 or 2 games in NKY 4A district.

Holmes is going to play South Laurel simply because it's a bowl game and gives them good exposure around the state. And I think your underestimating them. They would win more than 1 or 2 games in nky 4a. Just because Holmes beat them doesn't mean they're a bad team.

Also as for Pendelton they've had a football team around for quite a few years, just never fielded a varsity team. But why Holmes scheduled them? I dont know you'd have to ask the AD and coaches at Holmes. It's not like they've been world beaters the past coule years. Sometimes you need to pick up a team like that when you know your in a rebuilding process.

I understand where your coming from, I really do. But this thread is about who is going to win THIS WEEK"S game, not about why their schedule is the way it is. I think you better worry about your Raiders. They have a tough game this week.Thanks. :thumb:
