FC Cinci v Crystal Palace FC

Featured Replies

I went, my 3rd FC game. Had a blast. The announced crowd was 35,061. Largest crowd to ever watch a match in the state of Ohio.

Heard Nippert was not ready for the crowd. Buddy went and said the concession stands were overwhelmed?

They were a lot better off at the concession stands than at the merchandising booths. They opened the gates 90 minutes before the match started, and 15 minutes later the merchandising booth near my seats had a line about 100 feet long, seriously!

The concession near me was fully staffed.

An amazing event all the way around! Palace were overwhelmed with their stay here, and coach Pardew wants to not only return next year, he also wants to further the relationship with everything FCC as well as to help FCC move up the divisions of US soccer! There could be an FCC visit to Selhurst Park in the not too distance future.

Very nice!

Also, a word of advice for people who want to sit in the supporters section, the Bailey. If you want to see the match you will need to stand on the bleachers, there will be flags all around you waving so your view will be obstructed at times, there will be smoke devices that you will have to deal with, and you are expected to do and chant what soccer support groups do.

The head of the SG I belong to had people behind him cry about how they can't see with people standing and waving flags, and this was about 30 mins before the start of the match.

FCC may hear in the next couple of weeks on their applicant to move up to the 2nd division. It's inreal how fast this is all going.

Have they ever viewed a TV match from Germany. Bailey pales by comparison on what I saw.

The party I was with took a stroll around the stadium before the match. The concessions on the east side (?) underneath the press box were not very busy. Got myself a diet coke there. But the merchandise booths all the way around had long lines.

It was a fun atmosphere to be in.

I heard that the 35,000 plus was the largest attendance for ANY soccer match held in North America last weekend by 10,000 fans.

Stands were crowded, but I don't think they were crazy long.... Souvenir stands were a different story. Those have been crazy all the games I've been to.

Attendance for the Crystal Palace friendly matches in North America:

FC Cincinnati - 35,061

Vancouver Whitecaps FC - 14,788

Philadelphia Union - 12,881

I've only started to actually watch soccer matches and I agree with everything you said. The difference in size and speed was incredible. Those guys are unreal with the ball on their foot, if only for one day I had jets like Zaha. #22, Mutch scored the first goal and come to find out the guy played 20 EPL games and never scored. I can't wait until the EPL starts, I will be keeping an eye on CPFC.

Don't watch CP too close, or you'll be looking at the bottom of the standings. They only missed relocation by 5 points, last season. The word is that they'll be struggling to stay in the 1st division again. However, that shows you how good the EPL is.
