Okay. What's the point?

How do become eligible then?

All I'm telling you is that she lives with her dad and she's had a bonafide change of address. I'm not certain what or how anything happened before that. You'd have to ask them. And the KHSSA rules on eligiblity.

I find the bona fide address discussion interesting. As has been mentioned you have regular movement of players between Newport Holy Cross and Holmes. A couple cases that might be very similar to Jenna Martin's move come to mind.

One similar case might be Burt Pouncy, the Ludlow QB, who changed over to play football at Holy Cross. He missed several football games waiting on the KHSAA to rule but was eventually made eligible.

The other one that I think might be the very same situation as Martin's is the move of Moeves from Walton-Verona to Newport Catholic. I seem to recall they purchased a new house that was still in Boone County, perhaps even still in Walton but were allowed to transfer to NCC.

Finally, I believe the KHSAA should publicize their decisions in as much detail as possible without violating privacy. That would be a service to all schools and students to help provide clarity and understanding of how the rules are being interpreted

Well I feel for the girls at HHS who has gone through the program and now will have a lot of minutes taken away from them.

The rule has been used DOZENS of times if not hundreds of times. They aren't reasons to rule somebody eligible, they are EXCUSES. The kHSAA is scared to enforce their own rules.

Jordan Gary, who lived in the hoptown district moved to a different house in the hoptown district in order to use the "bonafied move" rule when transferring from UHA.

Kids have transferred to private schools and use the "move" excuse as the way to get eligible.

The KHSAA transfer rules are completely pointless at this point. To argue otherwise is ignoring reality.

You can say all you want for the reason she wanted to move, etc. But they have their reasons for wanting to change schools and why they chose HHS. It's their reason and their business. They transferred to a school that I would consider "down" from years past. They could have gone anywhere! Does she make HHS better, absolutely. She would make a team better. But a contender to win the region is a little far-fetched at this point. They will have kids contributing and being counted on to perform at a very high level that have either been role players or have very little varsity experience at all. Are some of those kids good Bball players, yes! But as a group they are very unproven at the varsity level. For me even as a huge fan with a daughter on the team, I wouldn't feel confident they become an instant contender right now. If the young kids mature and develop, maybe. But they have a LONG way to go. I hope I'm wrong! HHS Bball will be a journey from beginning to the end this year and there are A LOT of questions to be answered before I would call them a legit contender, even with Martin. The three that graduated covered up a lot of things that this group now has to take on...with the focus now moved to other kids.

Do you feel sorry for the NCC kids when kids transfer in there?

Yes I do, glad you can make this about NCC but then again there wasn't anyone to replace because they had no one in that position, unless again you know someone I don't know about.

The issue is that the KHSAA says it is against the rules to transfer for sports, even if you do move etc....

"why" is supposed to matter but he khsaa refuses to enforce the rules it has in place. Why anybody would be surprised by this is beyond me. It's the "wild west" out there right now in terms of "sports transfers"

Was the transfer at NCC more of an impact player than Martin is for HHS, I think not?

What about the Moeves kids? Didn't they transfer in? They certainly had an impact in NCC basketball.

Yes they did and the parents moved and the reason I know that is because they lived next door to a friend of mine.

Why does that matter?? Did she take minutes away from someone else that was there already?

And how soon we forget the name Moeves. Did they take minutes away from others. Did you feel sorry for those boys?
