Man, that was really well said RCC9. Thank you from a Scott Co. fan. I think the run McCracken made to get back us was AMAZING and shows the depth and talent of a great team. I think Madisonville showed why they were 2 or 3 in the polls every single week and has an outstanding team as well. I think Scott Co. got hot at the right time and had some incredible pitching from Sullivan and a solid defensive tourney, minus the first game with McCracken, and came out on top in this one and showed we are not so bad of a softball team either. I also think if you took those 3 teams and played them in a triangle you could get a different winner each time. Like any championship, most of the time, it just comes down to who got hot at the right time. And, as a fan of SC, we do take offense to the comments being made and I really hope none of our fine young ladies are reading the obvious disrespect made here by many. For those that are supporting SC it is very much appreciated by our fans and players. Thank you!

Let me ask you this...if I were to ask a Male fan if they felt anything in that game didn't go their way, what might they say? There are two sides to every game.

 

And you keep making this play that McCracken is the best team. Well following your logic there are two ways to justify the best teams. Either put them all in a tournament and let it hash itself out (like it did) or use the logic of the past of who beat who at the top and throw out the results of the state tournament. In either scenario you want to use, McCracken doesn't come out on top. It's either SC or MNH. Just sayin.

 

We all have who we "think" is the best team. But either way you want to determine the winner, there are results that tell us who was the best team. You didn't have any complaints with the tournament determining it when they won it last year!

 

McCracken has an outstanding team and made an unforgettable run that they (and many others) will remember forever. Give Scott Co the credit, be happy with what McCracken accomplished and move on. I like the 2 and out format. If a good team gets upset (it happens which is why you play the game) it gives them an opportunity to battle back and have a second chance! Anybody who has ever played in two and out formats knows it's a long road out of the losers bracket and you have to beat the team who earned the right to sit there and watch TWICE! What a great run it was for them and it would of been a even better story if they would of won it all!

 

Bottom line is the life lesson these young ladies will take from this experience will be with them long after we forgot about it!

 

The shame of the story is these young ladies are playing on slow pitch softball fields where the outfielders are often making plays on dirt with temporary fencing behind them. Pitiful!!! Someone should remind KHSAA that we are in 2016 and the playing field for the state tournaments are not balanced. There are fast pitch complexes in Kentucky that could handle this tournament! If not Go to a format like college with super Regions played on college fields just stop the insanity of playing the tourney on make shift fields in Owensboro.

However....you have been around this game for a long time and know that in this particular sport, whether it is NCAA or travel teams, that the conditions for tournament play are almost exclusively two and out. It's been conditioned that way in many different formats.

 

Not that I disagree with you, because you are right, it's one and done with all others (although I'm not sure how bowling works to be fair).

 

On the fields issue, until some political power can make some influence happen...it likely won't change unfortunately.

If this is the case, then Madisonville owned McCracken. Beat then twice, and then went 10 innings on Saturday.

 

Plain and simple, Scott Co is the best team in the state because they won the final game of the year. My daughter played for madisonville, and we face both teams, from first hand experience Scott is the better team. Sullivan is a better pitcher than Dodd, Chapman, or Ridolfi. They are all good, but their depth is what gives them chances to beat you. We had a junior pitcher in Peyton who arms has been hurting since District, and a freshman pitcher who stepped up but just didn't have it on Saturday.

 

Quit making excuses and give credit where it is due...to Scott County.

Why is district and regional one and out but the state is double elimination?

 

I would guess the thinking is time constraint and familiarity with the District and Region. In most cases you have played your District opponents during the season at least once,(unless you live in Bracken County :banana:) if not more and typically also in the Region.

 

State you likely have not played opponents or if you have, may not be more than once unless you traveled and intentionally set up those match ups. The schools that are willing to play the higher level games during the season have that exposure.

 

I believe the State Tournament is two and out as that is a typical FP format in the sport for tournament play.District and Regional games are more "qualifier" rounds in most views.
