Didn't say it wasn't huge disadvantage. Said its the same for everyone and you can control whether you get in the losers bracket or not. Double elinination tournaments aren't set up for teams to make it back easily when they lose their first game. That's why it's important to win it or you pay the consequences. It's the same for everyone! Your girls were lucky enough to be able to endure thru all the distractions. You should be happy. That was a great accomplishment. Many others weren't able to do that. But that's not the formats fault and you should not diminish Scott Co's achievement because McCracken lost its first game.

 

I bet you never even thought about it before the Male game because you didn't think you were gonna lose. But they did and now it's an issue. Again, I didn't see anyone complaining last year when Male would have had to play 7 games in the same timeframe to beat McCracken.

I don't know why you seem to think I have a connection to McCracken. And the objective of the tournament is to see who the best team is, not who has an easier first round draw and who can overcome 8 games in 95 degree weather in 36 hours. I don't think the best team won it all. Just like I don't think Scott Co. would've been able to make that same run that McCracken did.

McCracken beat Scott in 10 innings and by 4 the morning of prom. Not sure if that is "owning" them. Scott Co. lost three games this season (all to McCracken) and some predicted they wouldn't make it out of their region. All these girls have done is travel all over the state to face the toughest competition they could find. Both schools have amazing programs and fan bases, and return a talented core of underclassmen. Should be a healthy competition for years to come.

But Scott County beat good teams along the way, including MNH...who by your definition may have owned someone else this year. They also beat Male, who beat McCracken. playing all those games took its toll. But that's not SC fault and SC was the best team when it mattered this weekend. You tend to just want to forget that McCracken lost two games this weekend and just talk about how many they had to play.

I still think Madisonville NH was the best team in the state, but the tournament proved that Scott County was the best team in the state when it counted and state champion!

Congrats to the State Champion Lady Cardinals!! Spoke with several Scott Co fans after the games. They were gracious and classy with their comments and compliments toward our players and fans. My sentiments were reciprocated. Very proud of our Lady Mustangs for all they accomplished this season and the manner in which they did it.

I like the 2 and out format. If a good team gets upset (it happens which is why you play the game) it gives them an opportunity to battle back and have a second chance! Anybody who has ever played in two and out formats knows it's a long road out of the losers bracket and you have to beat the team who earned the right to sit there and watch TWICE! What a great run it was for them and it would of been a even better story if they would of won it all!

 

Bottom line is the life lesson these young ladies will take from this experience will be with them long after we forgot about it!

 

The shame of the story is these young ladies are playing on slow pitch softball fields where the outfielders are often making plays on dirt with temporary fencing behind them. Pitiful!!! Someone should remind KHSAA that we are in 2016 and the playing field for the state tournaments are not balanced. There are fast pitch complexes in Kentucky that could handle this tournament! If not Go to a format like college with super Regions played on college fields just stop the insanity of playing the tourney on make shift fields in Owensboro.

Did anybody give McCracken a scare in the loser bracket? I know they mercy ruled Estill County and won a close one vs Highlands.

Guess what, I'm entitled to my opinion, whether you like it or not. Yes I think McCracken is better than Scott Co. They beat them 3 of 4 times and had those 8 games been scattered over 3 days, I think McCracken would have beat them a 4th time. I think most would agree.

My daughter played for madisonville, and we face both teams, from first hand experience Scott is the better team. Sullivan is a better pitcher than Dodd, Chapman, or Ridolfi. They are all good, but their depth is what gives them chances to beat you. We had a junior pitcher in Peyton who arms has been hurting since District, and a freshman pitcher who stepped up but just didn't have it on Saturday.

Let me ask you this...if I were to ask a Male fan if they felt anything in that game didn't go their way, what might they say? There are two sides to every game.

 

And you keep making this play that McCracken is the best team. Well following your logic there are two ways to justify the best teams. Either put them all in a tournament and let it hash itself out (like it did) or use the logic of the past of who beat who at the top and throw out the results of the state tournament. In either scenario you want to use, McCracken doesn't come out on top. It's either SC or MNH. Just sayin.

 

We all have who we "think" is the best team. But either way you want to determine the winner, there are results that tell us who was the best team. You didn't have any complaints with the tournament determining it when they won it last year!

 

McCracken has an outstanding team and made an unforgettable run that they (and many others) will remember forever. Give Scott Co the credit, be happy with what McCracken accomplished and move on. Nothing is going to change and Scott Co proved it when it counted. We can talk about ifs ands and buts all day! But all you're really doing is discrediting a group of high school kid's accomplishments that earned their right to call themselves state champions.
