I also think compromise is part of the problem in our country right now. The Republican establishment has done plenty of compromising with Dems for a couple of decades now. They have failed, in many instances, to represent the conservative base that put them into office thereby angering conservatives who feel that their views are not being represented and their support is being taken for granted. The Tea Party was one reaction to this in which conservatives decided they would put their own candidates in office not those the establishment picked.

 

Trump is the next step in expressing this anger and frustration with establishment politics. Conservatives are tired of their candidates saying all the right things to get elected by their base and then doing something different (i.e. compromising conservative principles) once they get to Washington. This is why Boehner got tossed out. He was seen as a compromiser.

 

This explains the rise of Trump. He is seen as one who is not controlled by the establishment. Too bad. There was a much better candidate than Trump who already proved he would not compromise conservative principles. He was hated by Boehner for it.

It will be interesting to see how the GOP emerges post-Trump. Some on this board argue the Republican Party needs to compromise more, not less, for the good of the country. Others say conservative principles should not be compromised. Ever.

 

There are essentially three factions currently vying for power within the GOP: establishment fiscal conservatives (Ryan-McConnell), anti-immigrant nativists (Trump) and the Tea Party wing (Cruz). An unholy trinity.

This is definitely something that has me torn. I'm undecided between Trump and Johnson. I agree with a lot of what Johnson has to say. However, I feel like voting for him, only helps HRC. And I understand that it would benefit in the long run because of the traction a third party can get by doing well. I just struggle with that.

 

 

Definitely something that deserves consideration, but I think just as many third party votes (remember there's more out there than just Gary Johnson) will come from voters who otherwise would've voted Hillary. Now, if you lived in Ohio, I'd definitely say it could make a difference and give cause to pause one way or another. Hillary has no shot in KY though.

I mean, he used to be a democrat didn't he? And there is proof that he and the Clintons are friendly isn't there? Didn't he donate to her campaign in 2008?

 

There were reports that Bill Clinton called Trump while Trump was considering running for office. I could see BC coming up with such a plan, he's a brilliant politician and certainly knew Trump was HRC's one and only chance to be elected. Just more fodder for the conspiracy theorists.

Recent IG report came out May 25th and May 26th Trump challenges Bernie to a debate; 3 days later he's blistering reporters for questioning his donations to veterans; and less than a week later he is in his most recent scandal with Judge Curiel.

I really believe there are some that would still rush to the polls in support of Trump even if he came out and claimed that he was actually the leader of ISIS.

In between a lot of the garbage in the political forum, there is actually some insightful information. For example, I may have never paid much attention to Gary Johnson, if it wasn't for a BGP and a few posters I respect, whom I've never met and one I have.

Yeah, I guess you are right about that. Probably helps ease my decision haha! We'll see how the next 5 months go.

For those who have given real answers in here, what if Trump was to peg former MA Senator Scott Brown ® as his VP pick? Would that dissuade any of you?
