What is something you regularly do that others might consider old-fashioned?

Featured Replies

It's probably old-fashioned that only my sworn oath to the Commonwealth of Kentucky keeps me from challenging @Randy Parker to a duel of pistols at dawn.

I still write letters to several elderly relatives and I still send Christmas Cards that are signed by hand.

I've gone modern for almost everything. I shop, pay bills, bank, get news, etc almost exclusively online/electronically. I don't get the newspaper anymore, gave up all my magazine subscriptions, and haven't bought a book in years.

About the only old school thing I do is to still hand write and mail thank you notes to my clients and send hand signed Christmas cards.

Every check you write is a piece of paper that has your name, address, telephone number and bank account and routing number printed on it for anyone to see. Just sayin'

Was just getting ready to type this same thing.

I've thought about this. If I paid everything online, I figure it would save around $35-$45 annually in postage. I just don't like the bank account being accessible to so many.

Silly, every person that touches that envelope you mailed could have gotten your bank account info as well.

Checks are one of the least secure payment methods available, and provide an identity thief all the info he needs to do what he does best. There simply not many practical reasons to write checks at this point in time. I write about 10 checks a year, mostly for school fees, fundraisers etc. I did write a couple extra last year for down payments on vehicles I bought.

I write 12 checks a year, only for my rent.

If I could pay that with Credit/Debit, I wouldn't even have checks.

Write in cursive. Very small cursive with a fine point pen.

Peeing on two legs.

 You are on fire today!

Write in cursive.

That's those squigly words, right?

That's true, but I don't pay all bills by check. Three I pay with cash by walking into the place. Still, your point is valid.

Your point is also valid, but you and your avatar have no room to be calling anyone silly.

Yeah, come in handy when there's no electric or batteries available.

I have a turntable and a collection of vinyl records.

You pay utility bills on site and by cash? Never heard of anyone doing that before...

That seems odd for you, I thought you were a big money saver. You could save all of that postage by paying online.

For the longest time Duke was charging .40 to pay on line. I intentionally sent them snail mail though it saved me .04 (at the time) figuring it cost them more than that to have a human process the payment.
