I didn't watch a second of the press conference as is the norm for me. I have no interest in how players answer stupid questions. That said, he has a $1B brand to protect. I can't imagine he'd be willing to subject that brand to an admission of "cheating" or whatever moral indiscretion flopping falls under. Yes, he lies about flopping. No, he's not the only one to do so.

After then, anything he did was just icing on the cake of his career. Russ might be the only other player worth mentioning, and 35% of that is due to his wardrobe.

Yes, I agree. Maybe the most. On the flip side, I think LeBron has received undeserved protection through the bulk of his career.... maybe more than scrutiny considering he is the greatest talent in basketball history. I talk in jest all the time about LeBron needing more help, but that has been the narrative in each season (sans his meltdown against Dallas) he has played and not won a title. If by undeserved protection you mean people like me who were defending his every move from day one (and much better than his on-court defenders) then I agree with you on all but one point. Last year's team probably wasn't playing good enough ball to beat the Warriors, even if they were healthy. To that extent, I'm glad Kyrie didn't suit up, mainly because I can only imagine the hours spent wondering if LeBron can win a championship as THE guy without another top 5 player. Bron stans would be inconsolable. Skip would be MORE intolerable, if that's possible. I'd be a Lakers fan.

It's almost obsessive.

It's almost obsessive. By all accounts LeBron is an awesome dude and has it together. And yes, he is a top 10 greatest ever. I would argue is the greatest talent in NBA history. But I can't say because of this he is above scrutiny, which many make it seem. His only off court misstep has been "The Decision." May 24, 201610 yr LeBron comes off as a heel and it's all him. Definitely, and it's part of the reason he's my favorite player. I hate the "I'm just happy to be here" guys in the league.
