May 22, 201610 yr What prompted me to write this was the most recent HOF ceremonies. As many of you know I've been a huge Chicago fan since the seventies and was thrilled when they finally got the long-overdue nod. But to then have Cetera refuse to show up was a kick in the gut to Chicago fans who laid out heir hard earned dough for tickets and albums over the years. Jim, I know you likely consider it a blessing that Pete was a no-show, but for most fans who grew up in the seventies, he was the band's front man and I'm sure most of them would have appreciated it if he had showed up. He should have put his issues aside and been there. Does anyone know the real lowdown on Cetera's refusal to show up and play with the band? I read where he wanted to sing "25 or 6 to 4" in a lower key, rather than in the original. The band said no. I've also read where he was not of the same accord as far as which songs to sing. Even read that he wanted to perform with his own band, but I doubt that. Regardless, I say think of your fans for one damned night and put your issues aside. Fleetwood Mac did it at Clinton's inauguration. Cetera should have done it at the induction. I guess Schue is right again, PC is just a Peter head. I know there are some other Chicago fans on here. Feel free to comment on this or give your own Hall of Fame or other occasions when you've been disappointed by some of your favorite musical artists. Maybe you recall a performance you attended or a time when you had a chance to meet an artist and was disappointed.

I was more upset that Ritchie Blackmore wasn't at the R&R HOF with Deep Purple, than Cetera being missing. To me, Terry Kath was more important to the classic sound of Chicago than Cetera. Although, performance wise, Chicago probably sounded the best of all the bands that performed that night. I was glad to see that Bun E Carlos and the rest of Cheap Trick could put their differences aside play together at the ceremony.

I, too, appreciated Kath's important contributions to Chicago. Hendrix said Kath was one of the best guitarists he'd ever heard. I was expecting Cetera at the HOF induction. His absence ruffled my feathers. I would have been quite surprised had Kath showed up. His absence was understandable.
May 23, 201610 yr Have every album thru 18. I too was disappointed. What I read was the key change was the issue. It's not all that easy for horns to change key. That said, it was Pankow's song so he has the say IMO. I thought it was bush league of Cetera. Even Seraphine came and they fired him. One of the best drummers ever and dumped him. But he came back.
May 23, 201610 yr Disappointed by the on again off again on again off again that is Van Halen. I wish Eddie would go broke, then he'd have an incentive to get off his butt and put out something new. I'm tired of hearing about these great tracks they have put back...let's hear them already, I don't care if you tour to promote it or not...just give me the dang music.

As much as I love the original VH, they've been nothing but a dissapointment since Roth has been back. DLR is just simply terrible. Talking through the lyrics, the perpetual fake, goofy smile....he's hard to look at and listen too. Sammy has aged much better than DLR, and I'd rather see him in the band than Dave right now.

I agree, I'm one of the few that pretty much likes them both equally. Those first Dave albums were incredible, but the Hagar ones IMO were awfully good as well. I'd rather see Sammy if I was to see them in concert one more time.

May 23, 201610 yr Loved "In the Country" on that album. I pretty much grew up on Chicago VIII and Chicago IX (The greatest hits album)! The last couple of days I've been spinning II and VII... I almost forgot how great this band is.
May 23, 201610 yr Grand Funk Railroad. Disappointed about the feud between Don Brewer and Mark Farner. Fogerty brothers fued (CCR) Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel Davies bros (Kinks) Edited May 23, 201610 yr by OlDog75
May 24, 201610 yr I'm disappointed that the band that made incredible music for 11 years and 9 studio and concert albums would decide to go completely to crap after that, and continue producing crap for the next 25 years. I'm looking at you, Bono.

I almost forgot how great this band is. I love spinning some of those old Chicago albums. Great band indeed! AD, did you happen to catch Chicago in Richmond when they performed at the EKU Center for the Arts? BTW, BOSTON is performing there this Thursday.
