May 19, 201610 yr I'm in this camp. Count me in also. If it's mandatory for kids, the adults need to be included as well.
May 19, 201610 yr I say no to drug testing without reasonable suspicion (late days, performance decline, etc...) They aren't handling machinery or material dangerous to the general public. I am amazed at how many Republicans hate Government intrusion in their daily lives, except where we have our highest expectation of privacy.

No need for concern there.
May 19, 201610 yr No, they are just educating kids. No need for concern there. Hence why I said, "Performance Decline." They aren't going to drive an 80,000 lb Tractor and Trailer into anyone, so the risk to the public isn't high enough to overcome the need for probable cause.

No need for concern there. Performance based or reasonable suspicion. The problem with any drug testing is that it doesn't do anything (with the exception of alcohol) to confirm intoxication, only residuals. As for the comments about "educating kids" and "no need for concern"....I think the school systems have enough systemic issues to last them a lifetime of repair work without attempting to introduce witch hunts on their employees. As soon as the school systems figure out how to educate the entire population of students, giving equal treatment to all....then they can test all they want. Teachers probably need something to steady their nerves anyway....
May 19, 201610 yr Test everyone in the school...run dogs through the school and parking lot and teachers lounge. Drugs are illegal, so therefore no one should be upset if they are subject to a test at any time...

I'm for the legalization of all drugs and I don't like mandatory drug testing . My only point was if they are going to test the students like at CCH and Trinity , then out of consistency they should test the teachers.
May 19, 201610 yr Author Who's paying for this? Is this the opening statement for the defense? :lol2:
May 19, 201610 yr Is this the opening statement for the defense? :lol2: I'm a school teacher and I have no problem with my district, or any district, drug testing teachers and employees. But I've also seen seven of my co-workers cut this month because we can't afford to pay them. If we can't come up with money for hiring, where are we getting money for drug testing?

I don't know about all drugs but you and I are in the ballpark together. However, I am not sure testing teachers equates to consistency.

With the stated motivations behind the policy to me it would be the deinition of consistent. You want to give kids a reason to say no? Well how about knowing all your successful teachers are drug free as well.
