May 15, 201610 yr Pretty much conceded Nyquist as the winner. Is there any money to be made on place and show horses?
May 15, 201610 yr Just saw that suddenbreakingnews is out. His connections are pulling him but will run him in the Preakness.
May 16, 201610 yr Just saw that suddenbreakingnews is out. His connections are pulling him but will run him in the Preakness. Assuming you meant the Belmont. Totally makes sense to me and he will be my play in the Belmont.

May 17, 201610 yr Pretty much conceded Nyquist as the winner. Is there any money to be made on place and show horses? If Nyquist is the heavy favorite, 3-5 or 1-5 or something like that, there is plenty of money to be made on place and show wagers, but only if Nyquist runs out of the money. Place and show wagers are huge when the chalk doesn't finish in the money.
May 17, 201610 yr Author Does anyone have the field? Not much talk going on with this thing happening Saturday. Who is second and third after Nyquist?

May 17, 201610 yr Does anyone have the field? Not much talk going on with this thing happening Saturday. Who is second and third after Nyquist? I agree about the lack of hype. This was my fear if there was ever another Triple Crown winner. The casual fans just don't care at all now.
May 17, 201610 yr I'm working on a few notes.. Laoban is a maiden horse. Abiding Star has won 5 races in a row but that was against sketchy competition.
May 17, 201610 yr That looks like a larger than normal Preakness field. Isn't it usually less than 10?

May 18, 201610 yr That looks like a larger than normal Preakness field. Isn't it usually less than 10? Lots of owners and trainers think Nyquist can be beat, is the only explanation that I can come up with. On a side note, I was flipping through TV and ran across a Baffert interview. I didn't see the whole thing but it was on Fox Midwest. Baffert said "I will never see a horse like AP come through my barn again in my lifetime". Pretty strong statement coming from a great trainer.
