August 15, 201610 yr Any chance Alex Rodriquez signs with the Marlins before the Reds series or at all as a replacement bat for Stanton?
August 15, 201610 yr Any chance Alex Rodriquez signs with the Marlins before the Reds series or at all as a replacement bat for Stanton? Not sure why except to sell tickets, he's playing like a 40 something year old not on PEDs.
August 16, 201610 yr Where would he play in the field? First base. He's old but it isn't like he's got a wooden leg or something.
August 16, 201610 yr First base. He's old but it isn't like he's got a wooden leg or something. He's appeared at first base in nine games.
August 16, 201610 yr Poppy from Highly Questionable said they sign him, get Bonds out of retirement and sign Tim Tebow if they want to sell tickets.
August 16, 201610 yr Even though his publicist denies it, I think he ends up finishing the season as a Marlin as a backup first baseman, DH when they play inter league and pinch hitter just to get those 4 home runs to 700.

The Marlins play 3 games at Cleveland in early September -- that's their only remaining games with a DH until the World Series.
August 17, 201610 yr 2015 #1 overall pick Dansby Swanson will make his major league debut today for the Braves. Sweanson, if you'll remember, was drafted by Arizona and then traded this past off-season for Shelby Miller.

His AAA numbers aren't very impressive.
August 17, 201610 yr Seems to me they're rushing this kid to sell tickets. His AAA numbers aren't very impressive. That's because he's never been in AAA....
August 17, 201610 yr That's because he's never been in AAA.... Oh. I guess I looked at it wrong. I looked at his numbers on my Fantasy baseball app last night, and I thought he showed he was hitting around .245 in AAA.
August 17, 201610 yr Oh. I guess I looked at it wrong. I looked at his numbers on my Fantasy baseball app last night, and I thought he showed he was hitting around .245 in AAA. Nope. He currently has a .261/.342/.402 slash line in AA. He absolutely demolished High A ball earlier in the year hitting .333/.441/.526 there.

Why start his clock running when the Braves are as far away from contending as the Reds and Swanson is not "banging on the door" by his performance in the Minor Leagues? Cup of coffee to see what he has as an injury replacement? Otherwise doesn't make any sense to me.

They just traded Aybar, but yeah I would think they'd have someone else they could use at least until September.
