General MLB Discussion

Figured we should have a non-Reds series thread to talk MLB.

Read that MLB is on pace to set a record for runs coming via HRs.

Through May 1 38.2% of all runs scored have come via HRs. Record is 37.3 set last year.

Ironically the early 2000s were the time when HRs were flying out of the park yet it was not the era for the highest %.

On the other hand, walks and stolen bases are at near all-time lows.

Currently singles are below 15% of trips to the plate which would be an all-time record.

Strikeouts and hits are almost even.

In late and close situations batters are striking out 24% of the time with two outs and RISP.

20 Ks for Scherzer tonite.

96 strikes out of 119 pitches.

Slow night in mlb and tomorrow won't be crazy. 1 or 2 afternoon games is ok, but more than that is too much, imo.

Braves have 9 HR as a team.

Mets pitchers have hit 3 HR in the last week.

In today's win over the Astros David Ortiz hit his 600th career double. With that double he became the 3rd player with at least 500 homeruns and 600 doubles joining Barry Bonds and Hank Aaron. He also tripled and homered in the game. The homer moved him in to 20th place all-time.

You think he might reconsider retirement?

He's having a heck of a year. I'd love to see him come back for another season. I'd have to think he's financially secure enough that it wouldn't be about the money. I'd say it hinges on his family.

Two teams on pace for sub fifty win seasons.

My Braves are on fire------have won 2 of their last 4.

If it was me, I'd rather go out on a positive.
