Steph Curry wins first unanimous MVP Award

Featured Replies

I have no problem with Steph being a unanimous MVP but am shocked he is the first one. How did MJ never get the unanimous vote? How about Bird in 86? Someone already mentioned Wilt's year when he AVERAGED 50 and 26.

This also leads to the discussion of best player vs most valuable player. I think the Warriors would still be no worse than the 3rd best team in the West without Curry (behind the Spurs and Thunder). Without LBJ, where would the Cavs be?

Congrats to Steph. Clearly the MVP in my book this year but not as dominant an MVP as some others who did not get the unanimous vote.

Steph deserved the award no doubt, but this award seems to be partial to records rather than individual performance. His stats arent even that legendary (30.1 ppg 6.7 ast 5.4 reb).

LeBron went 30/7/7 and got runner up to Kobes 28/7/5. The most valuable player is the one who makes the journalists the most money.

If you go analytically, it was about as impressive of a season as you will find considering he was a PG. PER is dominated by guys that are able to dominate the game from the interior. Steph dominated the game from the perimeter. To lead the league in PER in that fashion is unprecedented.

Yes. He warms the bench for the Kings after spending some time in the NBDL last season.

It must suck for Dad having 2 sons play in the league. I have a 4 and 2 year old...I would take a journey man NBA career.

Windhorst must not have had a vote?

He did. Chris Broussard did also.

My point is that Steph didn't get to his status simply because of daddy. His work ethic got him there. Otherwise lil bro would be as good as big bro wouldn't he?

That would be Lebron then.

Kawhi wins next year with a 23/7/3 line.

Yes, I'm bitter.

Now that cat is overrated.

The Cavs would possibly still be a top 3 team in the East. I wouldn't take anyone other than Toronto or Miami over the Cavs being led by KI and Love. Maybe the Hornets also. That's probably it.

Thought I was having the other day. Do the Cavs have the top 3 players in the Eastern Conference?

I totally agree about his work ethic...it doesn't hurt growing up in the household with an NBA player. I am sure Daddy helped to focus that work ethic in ways lots of Daddy's can't...

I was talking recently talking to a guy who was a coach/scout in the hornets organization when Dale played for them. He said as soon as practice ended everyday, there would be 2 little boys out on the floor shooting and practicing...going back to my original statement, most 6'2 high school kids who are good shooters dont' have this background...

With that said, I would bet Steph maybe the hardest worker on his game as any player in the NBA, and I respect that...Just like Jordan was the hardest worker and Kobe was the hardest worker...

That would be Lebron then.

You mean to tell me this season, LeBron was more valuable to ESPN than Steph and the 73-win Dubs?

Another interesting thing I heard this morning on Mike and Mike. Steph is the first player to average 30 and average less than 35 minutes a game.
