Or he got too big and stopped taking them. Aka Tiger Woods.

Griffey didn't look like a steroid abuser. If he was using them to aid recovery, they didn't work. If you compare Jr and Sr side-by-side in through their early 30s, you will see that their bodies look very similar. I feel that Griffey relied so heavily on natural talent that he never took preventive care serious. He let himself get out of shape, just like Dunn and Kearns did while in the same clubhouse. Had he taken care of his body throughout his late 20s, maybe his early to mid 30s wouldn't have happened to the extent that they did. He never compensated for a slower metabolism and his body didn't deal well with the extra weight.

That being said, I don't feel like Bonds did steroids and HGH for the sake of taking care of his body. He took them b/c he couldn't deal with the attention that McGwire and Sosa were receiving. He wanted to show people that he was still better than them, and he was going to level the playing field, so to speak. Then he developed the greatest eye in baseball history. That gets overlooked more than anything. The man got 1 pitch to hit a game, maybe over 2 games, and he nailed it 95% of the time and walked the rest. The guy was amazing. What steroids allowed him to do was stay young physically while his wisdom as a player peaked. Of course that is cheating.

Griffey and not close. One cheated and one did not. Steroids due a lot to prevent injury and they also help you to recover. If Griffey has less injury's he breaks alot of records.

You lost me on the part in bold.

Steroid in general build muscle and strengthen it which is one of the proven things about steroids, and people that use them do so to prevent injury's like the one Griffey Jr. had. A torn hamstring from the bone is unheard of. Do athletes get injured using steroids? Of course they do, BUT it goes along way in prevention and healing. I think Junior getting hurt alot proves the fact that he probably did not use them

Steroids do not build muscle, they do increase protein synthesis which helps to build muscle if you lift. They do not prevent injuries.

They both played 22 years...

Bonds 762 HR, 1,996 RBI, 514 SB, 2,558 BB, .298 BA, 2,227 R, 2,935 H

Griffey 630 HR, 1,836 RBI, 184 SB, 1,312 BB, .284 BA, 1,662 R, 2,781 H

It's really not even close.

Jumping in late but that is just taking the stats into the argument. Just watching them both play their entire careers and I still think it is Bonds over Griffey and it isn't close.

Some think he might have, which is why his body broke down so fast.

I always thought he did. Everyone was juicing but Junior? Yeah right.

Please. He didn't do anything that wasn't being done for baseball's entire existence.

Completely agree! This is why I think it's stupid baseball went on their witch Hunt to get people who used in the past. Baseball knew it was going on but turned their head from it in the late 90s to try to get fans back. Baseball loved the home run chase even though the baseball higher ups knew about it. That is why it's stupid for baseball to turn around and try to find the players that used when they basically encouraged it and wanted it for all those years.

They have caught a lot of people and there is still probably double the amount of who has been busted so far that have used but never got caught.

Interesting that we have so many who say "no contest" yet it's 9-8 in voting right now.
