6 month recovery is now expected. He was out for the year either way.

Id say his career is probably over.

I would agree, hate it for Meso, but him getting to the AL and being a DH is his best option. He was struggling big time, and missing 2 years will really hurt him

Phillips 2B

Suarez 3B

Duvall LF

Pacheco 1B

Guess they want to give Votto a mental break with three days off in a row?

I said it before someone else complained lol

Cingrani gives up HR to Harrison to tie the game. Pirates only have four hits, all Home Runs.

Votto draws a 9th inning pinch hit walk, but Reds come up short.

How many players were HBP tonight?

5, 3 Pirates and 2 Reds. It's really a joke that Clint Hurdle manages the way he does. This kind of managing has become a huge joke. I get that you should retaliate if a star gets hit but these guys are hardly stars. When is enough enough, apparently never with Hurdle?

HBP - Kang (by Alfredo Simon), S. Rodriguez (by Steve Delabar), Freese (by Ross Ohlendorf)

HBP - B. Phillips (by Juan Nicasio), Duvall (by Jared Hughes)

You missed one. Marte by Simon.

I personally don't mind one bit that he threw back at the Reds. Two of his guys got hit, I'd throw at someone too.

As for Clint Hurdle, did he get tossed when he argued the decision after the replay at 2nd? I couldn't tell if they tossed him or not.

Hurdle and Marte were ejected.

Thanks @Clyde. I thought it was automatic if you came out an argued after an instant replay, but I never saw the motion. Might have been before I turned around.

MJ I think you are right, if they come out of the dugout it is automatic to be ejected after a review, also same for Price I believe, once dugouts are warned after next hit batter and pitcher is ejected its an automatic for Price as well. That is the 12th game where the Reds have blown a lead after the 7th inning, and the 12th loss hung on a bullpen guy. This team could be a good team I think if the bullpen didn't stink!

Just when I thought shipping Hoover to AAA was gonna solve a few problems, Ohlendorf is there to remind me that he's just as bad, yet he is still getting the ball more than anyone else. That's a head scratcher

I read 10 losses leading after the 7th. That would be a huge % of the 12 where they blow a lead after 7 and totally believable considering this bullpen is very unlikely to just give up the tying run and then pitch shut down baseball until the Reds score to win it -- which might end up being a week from Tuesday.

Even if the Reds had WON all 12 of those games, they would not be a "good team." They would have a decent record but still be a tragically flawed and undermanned team -- which any reasonable fan should have expected going into this season.
