Mayfield Cardinals - 2015 Grade

We've gotten used to being Valedictorian.

Grade?

I would reserve A+ for a team that runs the table, but this club certainly can be proud of their achievements... solid A.

I'm going to expand this a bit. Mayfield has 5 titles and 2 runner up finishes. They lost 7 times since then. Twice to McCracken, Twice to Caldwell, Warren Central, LCA and Hazard.

I call that dominate and I give that a A+.

Solid A

No shame in playing up the way they did and losing to 6A McCracken County in a tight game.

Only thing keeping them from A+ range was they weren't necessarily dominant over the other 2A Teams they beat en route to a Title..but at the same time they proved they were #1 for sure.

I will go a little different route with it, I give the defense an A+. It was solid all season, even in the games that I thought we might struggle. I will give the offense a B. Before anybody else says it, I do realize it hurt losing Bright for a while. With that said, I thought there were several games during the season that they struggled to move the ball. It just seemed to me there were a LOT of 3 and outs. They still always did enough to win though. So, overall I would give the season a very solid A.

Only thing keeping them undefeated was a lousy excessive celebration call against Mayfield when that stop had McCracken beat late in the 4th. The shame should be on the official.
