There are many very conservative people out there that won't vote for Trump because he's sexist and wants to discriminate against an entire group of people based solely on their religion. As a liberal here in KY, my presidential vote doesn't matter much anyway. Part of the good thing about this country is the freedom to vote for whomever you want. If more people took the attitude of voting for someone they align most closely with, maybe a third party would be more viable.

 

And while I'm a Democrat, I see no issue with voting for a different party. One common complaint one this board is people "blindly following the party line", and "not thinking for themselves". As far as my politics, I'm very middle of the road. I lean democrat because social issues are more important to me.

My vote isn't a protest vote. My vote is for a candidate I respect, and who's positions I agree with. I don't do the nonsense of voting against a candidate. I find a candidate I could support in the office of POTUS and that's who I cast my vote for. I actually vote based on my principals and beliefs.

If enough people fly to the libertarian party because of this then the Rs may start actually echoing the Ls more which will bring back many of us who became disenchanted with the folks who want American morals and social legislation stuck in the 1940s. A protest vote that is there to make sure they start acting like the defend individual liberty as opposed to just individual liberty that the religious right likes.
