Interesting, I was unaware of that requirement from the school board.

 

That was a heck of a step up for CAL then, but if they are coming off the schedule next year, I think that's for the best.

 

I'd like to see them play a Louisville school. Ballard, PRP, or Manual would all be good choices with a game that would benefit both schools in my opinion. Another Lexington school would also be good, though.

 

Agree with all of those choices. i wouldn't mind seeing Male X or Trinity as well. I am no fan of scheduling any games that you are going to win or lose by 50 points but I think the program has improved enough that they can at least compete with the best the state has to offer.

I'd agree that either would be a game to watch. I didn't include them because Male seems devoted to a local-only schedule (though that could change in the future) and Trinity is just really short on schedule room, between the their district and traditional rivalries. Though, if the TN schools don't sign for 2017, I'd like SK and a Cincy team replace them.Or maybe if PRP and Lafayette don't renew. Either way, getting Trinity within easy driving distance for me is always a plus.

This thread is comical. The thought of mighty SK too good to play a power 2A team - like Desales or Mayfield is ridiculous. CAL included....seems that was one of their most competitive games last year.

It was competitive the first 15 mins. CAL gave SK a better game than Highlands also.

Wow. Wasn't looking for any sympathy (or expecting to get blasted)..just a statement, and really the same thing could be said about CAL. Both solid teams in their class although again, neither is on the same level as SK. But then again 2/3 or more of the 6a teams aren't on SK's level either.

 

Which is in fact irony when SK get's blasted for not scheduling more 5A or 6A schools. Bottom line is unless they're playing Trinity or X's schedule then SK is "under scheduling"

No, the bottom line is that "THE GOAL" is to win a state title. The road to that goal doesn't run through Ft. Thomas (Highlands), but the road to the 6A state title runs through the "ville." SK will not be considered by many as a state title contender until they regularly beat good 5A and 6A teams or win a playoff game.

Um....SK has won two playoff games 5 out of the last 6 years.

Meade County also went 3-9 for the year and was ranked 25 out of 32 6A schools. They lost the farm to graduation and didn't have a good team.

 

Also, the last time SK played Male was what... 2008? Not even close to the same team now; SK isn't the only school that can improve.

As usual, it's a good schedule to win a region, but not a state championship caliber schedule that will prepare them for the big dawgs in 6A
