I don't think he got ran out because of his christianity. I do think he didn't get fair shot because he was polarizing. He had such a huge following if a starter had a bad game everyone wanted him to start. You can't have a backup that has that type of support. If Tebow weren't so polarizing he would still be in the NFL as a backup somewhere.

 

I also agree with every teams decision on this. If Tebow were good enough to be a starter it wouldn't matter. But you don't want a polarizing backup qb.

And you don't even have to go back all that far. Peyton Manning was pretty much terrible this year and won a Super Bowl.

He had such a huge following if a backup QB had a bad game after the starter got hurt then everyone wanted him to be the backup. You can't have a third string/emergency QB that has that type of support. If Tebow weren't so polarizing he would still be in the NFL as a third string/emergency QB somewhere.

Can't argue with your edits. My only point is there are QB's in the league now he is better than. Being a polarizing player doesn't work in your favor. There are plenty of players before Tebow who let there media hype ruin their career.

I'm not an expert on 2nd and 3rd string qbs but I'm comfortable in saying he is probably better than a few. But I also don't think it's a huge margin and the media affair that comes along with him doesn't make it worth it. I don't think this is a crazy statement at all.

If he didn't suck he'd be on the field and not in the studio. He's in his prime right now too.......

Both Rex Grossman and Trent Dilfer are right above .500. So that isn't really justified. How many seasons did he get as a starter? 1? Most mobile QBs do well for a brief spurt in their first season orntwo unless they have the throwing mechanics and head game to really make a go of it. Tebow had a number of opportunities to make a roster and yes he might have been treated badly in Denver after 1 playoff win but how in the world would you keep him if you have Peyton Manning? Elway was smart, the man knows the QB position and winning better than any of us here. He knew that Tebow would be a popular boondoggle because of his annoyingly out there professions of faith and got rid of him before he could cause trouble (not because of his values but because of his abilities) and put the right guy in there.

My point isn't the same as others. Some in here think he could start. I don't , not even close. I just think the life of a backup qb , needs to be done in silence . There isn't a huge gap between most quarterbacks on the bench. But anything that brings a negative to the team hurts your chances.
