VanHoose will be a fine collegiate player.He made giant strides this summer against top notch competition.He is what is referred to as "long"(6'4"),has excellent range,makes good court decisions and has improved his ball handling and strength over the summer.Having said that I doubt that he will avg. as much as he did last year.Russell will have a healthy Austin Blair,an improved Scott Gill and transfer Austin Robinson that all will avg. close to double figures if not more.

As for the Mayo-Dawson loss to Flynn's team in 2002, it could be mentioned that Ashland had two D1 athletes in Surgalski (at least for a short stay at Wright State) and Beach (football- but still D1 although I will agree that UK football is, by performance, not D1). Nonetheless, if we are honest, we know that that regional win was Flynn's biggest win at Ashland. Also, regardless of who won that game, the winner had the dubious "honor" of being cleaned by LexCath in the first round of the state tournament. Nevertheless, it did provide a free trip to Lexington and a picture in the program.

I guess he has a lot of options if he just wants to look good in a uniform and make good grades. If he wants to play alot of basketball and be a star on the court, well that's a different story...

Scooter - I agree with the above statement completely.But I hope you aren't disparaging the Georgetown Tiger basketball program.There are several members of that team that IMO would make solid contributions at high profile D-1 schools

Vanhoose could play at a bigger school than Gtown, but they have a GREAT program, and will have a REALLY GOOD team this year. I believe they return 4 starters. Many of their players get opporunities professionally overseas.

No one is disparaging Georgetown College. For its size, it has a good athletic program. It has a better academic program. Nevertheless, VanHoose will go to a larger, better known school. But, then, maybe all of those Rowan County girls that Wireman has been tauting in another forum can go to Georgetown College.
