Had Ashland played a normal 16th region schedule they would have been well over .500.

BTW I believe Boyd has been underachieving for quite a while now.

Boyd underachieving? They havnt been winning, but their talent pool has been way down since Zornes left, Ashland has had a big edge in talent over Boyd County for almost every year Flynn has been there, I would say Flynn had a talent edge over the rest of the Region for every year Flynn was there except 2. Flynn had some big wins while he was there, especially Rose Hill in the District, but he also had some big losses like a couple of years ago against Morgan County. I cant think of too many games Boyd County should have won that they lost except maybe the district game against Fairview last year

Vanhoose is a great player. Reminds me of Adam Howard a few years ago at Ashland. Him being about 4 or 5inches taller than Howard i'd say he could end up somewhere a little better than WKU which is where Howard is now.

 

WKU is a pretty high level of basketball. That would be a pretty good accomplishment for Vanhoose.

I agree. They SHOULD have been in the NCAA tourney last year even though they lost in their conference finals.

Morgan County had a pretty good team that year. You guys have trouble accepting the name Ashland does not win games for them anymore.

I think they had the talent to beat Morgan County two years ago, and the talent to beat Elliot County last year, I dont ever remember an Ashland team overachieving since Wayne Breeden's runner up team in 1996, that was the last Ashland team to overachieve, since then they have either met expectations or under achieved, usually underachieving, especially the team with Umberger and Arbaugh. When was the last time two d-1 players played on the same team in the 16th and didnt win the region?

As for Joe Vanhoose when you can shoot the rock like he can a ton of schools will offer a scholarship for that skill alone. Shooters are everywhere but makers are few and far between!

OJ was a 7th grader, Dawson was a juco, although now d-1, King was never d-1, so let me rephrase my question, when was the last time a team had two d-1 players THEN IN HIGH SCHOOL who did not win the region?

That was the high point of Flynn's stay at Ashland when he won that game

Georgetown is about the right level for him. They are high NAIA Div. I. He would have a lot of opportunities to star at that level.
