Sometimes people's Priorities aren't exactly in line with what's best for them. Really? Now dont take what I am going to say as a personal attack. Health insurance companies, KY has one of the largest ones in state, that is one of the highest paying jobs. Drug companies... OK, we'll never get sick then. Iranians... How many Hillary all 78 million of them? Republicans, of course people who want to live free without big and powerful government.

If it weren't for wildly unpopular course corrections that went against the grain "back home", we'd be living on plantations. So yes - elected officials should as a rule do the bidding of those who elected them. Until there is a moral imperative to do otherwise.

And when was the last time your congressman (or mayor, city councilman etc) called you up and asked what you wanted him to get done? Pretty much since the beginning of our country, the average persons voice in government is "who" we vote for. From there, it's that person making decisions in what they think is our best interest. And in reality, if the person you vote for doesn't win, you've got very little voice at all, at least until the next election. There is nothing in our system that really gives us any "say" on a day to day basis.

If they did that or tried to get what the majority of the people really wanted we would not be in the condition we are today.
