What Liberals Believe

Here's one that's still topical.

"I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi...sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice."

"Why do I want to see movement conservatism crushed? Partly because the movement is fundamentally undemocratic; its leaders don't accept the legitimacy of opposition."

- Paul Krugman, November 2006

I tried to ignore this topic but Paul Krugman is hack and gets laughed out of every room of real economist. He is a political hack who poses as an economist.

"Progressives say, 'We're all in this together,' while conservatives say, 'You're on your own.'"

- George Lakoff, December 2006

The American way is your success is based off your own actions not others

-Lipton Bash-

"Government's basic purpose is to allow those blessed with talent to go as far as they can - on their own merits. But...government also has an obligation to assist those who, for whatever reason, have been left out by fate: the homeless, the infirm, the destitute."

- Mario Cuomo, January 1983

You are quoting Cumo? Should republicans quote Nixon?

Yes, I am; and I suppose yes, they can.

"We need to accept and apply this basic truth: that we're all in this together, like a family, interconnected and interdependent, and that we cannot afford to revert to a world of us against them."

"The immigration issue is mainly hurting the Republican Party, which is divided between those who want to expel immigrants and those who want to exploit them."

Worshipping at Krugman's alter is not wise. He is a glorified hack.

Some of those same people just sacrificed the first health insurance they ever had for a governor who would push a different marriage form but cancel their insurance. Sometimes people's Priorities aren't exactly in line with what's best for them.

Just like many poor Americans are lining up to vote for Bernie Sanders, probably not realizing his tax hikes will mean they will be losing a significant percentage of their pay check to the federal government, which will of course will only create more Government jobs because more assistance will be needed.

I'm trying to figure out why people who don't know what liberals think are posting in a thread about what liberals think? :lol2:

^ Amazing, ain't it.

There's a similar thread for the cons, but I haven't posted in it. Primarily because I ain't got a clue how they think.

"Every other wealthy nation manages to provide almost all its citizens with guaranteed health insurance, while spending less on health are than we do. And there's no mystery why: we're paying the price for pointless, destructive reliance on private insurers. "

- Paul Krugman, September 2006

“We must rapidly begin the shift from a "thing-oriented" society to a "person-oriented" society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.

"The central political agenda of America's conservative forces is to protect corporate power."
