WYMT Mountain Top 10

Featured Replies

True JCHS did lose its opening playoff game at home but it was easily the worst game that they had played all year with a total of 6 turnovers and with the last one coming in the endzone on an interception that could have won the game. Now as far as Blume goes, he was huge and i dont look for the eagles to replace him with any one player but with a bunch of different players. Let me throw the names Blake Johnson, Shawn Grimm, and Ian Welch at you for they will make up together what JC lost in Blume. And when you throw in the fact that JC now has a legit passing game along with a balanced passing attack and a defense that returns 9 of 11 starters with a transfer from LC that has already made himself known, JC does deserve a ranking in the Top Ten, maybe not 5 but they should be in there.

True, the Eagles have a passing attack but what have they done to earn the 5th spot in the mountains? Two good yrs. don't warrent anything when you are 0-1 in the playoffs (At home anyway). Listen I am a Golden Eagle fan but I want to see some games before I rank them 5th best in the mountains.

Mountain Class A?? Okay who are the 7 teams in front of them. I agree with you they do not belong in the Mountain Top Ten, but I'd rank them #4 in the Mountains class A behind Pikeville, Somerset and Lynn Camp.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's the only player, Sublett and Cantrell both return from leading the defense in a few categories.

I've heard Paintsville has about 25 players out and they have some injuries as well...and a new head coach...it doesn't look good, but Paintsville will play very hard as they always do.

Other than Rockcastle, Bell & Southwestern the rest of the top 10 is basically conjecture at this point.

I agree 100%

Whitley Don't play in a watered down district.......:irked:

That is the most pathetic excuse for a mountain top ten i have ever seen.

The first 5 are fine the the last five i think you had a moment. And no i am not fighting for Corbin to be in there yet. They have to earn a spot.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but your opinion on my opinion doesnt scare me.....

Both Milan and Hensley stated that they compiled this pre-season top ten based a good deal on BGP. I think it's an OK starting point. I'm sure there will be changes.

To my knowledge Paintsville has know injuries going into the first game, but do have a few players banged up. But hey that's football! I think it's more like 28, but honestly what are good numbers for Paintsville?? Most of the time they only have sub-30 players on the roster. Yeah a new coach that's been in the system for over 10 years. I don't think they'll be terrible, I do think there is still a lot of kinks to be worked out on the offensive line. They're definitely not so bad that they couldn't rank in the Top 8 out of Mountain class A schools.

Not this year, but next year.........................I would say so.

Dont you worry this top 10 dont meaning anything

to any of these teams right now....the eagles have worked hard this summer and I believe friday night they will show that they are worry of everything they have worked for....the eagles are great at proving people wrong.

and turning a few heads. I mean come on 3 years ago no one would had believed that JC was ever going to have a home play off game. so please dont put the eagles down. you put the eagles down you put the boys down that have worked hard in practice and in the weight room.:thumb:

Johnson Central should be ranked ahead of Belfry. Does head to head mean nothing? I also feel Pikeville is a better team than Pulaski Co.

Did i say Corbin was a top ten???

I didn't think so.

They will be by the end of the first five games, thats what will proove it, not our district.

No in my opinion whitley, lynn camp, south laurel and Corbin hasn't earned the right to be mentioned yet.

Could Corbin vs. Whitley be in the works if the rumors of Corbin and Bell not renewing hold true? Also with Middlesboro becoming a district game, Corbin should add Rockcastle every year. For the record, I think Corbin and Bell should keep on playing. They are the two biggest names in Eastern Kentucky and need to play.

I think Pikeville, Rock, Belfry and Breathitt would have something to say about that.

My Preseason Mt Top Ten

1. Rock

2. Bell Co

3. Southwestern

4. Belfry

5. Johnson Central

6. Middlesboro

7. Somerset

8. South Laurel

9. Corbin

10. Clay Co (surprise team in the mts this year imo)

Good call. Clay returns an awful lot from a very good team. Look for them to be top five soon.

^^^Ranking Clay in the top 10 after they lost their last 3 games by an average score of 50-14??? Not me.

Also, Pikeville beat Corbin at Corbin 34-0 last year and has most of their team back. Corbin beat Middlesboro...how is Middlesboro ranked so high??? Corbin can't be ranked above Pikeville at this point either...

Many of the teams ranked in the top 10 need to do a lot of work to get there...and can't be there by the way they have played lately...
