If he runs the so-called spread that Raceland and Russell use the team will run 70% of the time. They won't throw it 20 times much less 30 times.

30 may be a bizarre number but Raceland threw the ball over 20 times in 9 out of 12 games last year. They threw the ball 30 times or more once or twice.

Scott knows the spread inside and out, likes to throw, but likes to throw to set up the run as well. Scott is a smart coach and will use Greenup's experience and tallented jr and senior class to its full potential. Imo, Greenup's success will depend on the development of their line. Not strength, but stamina. If their DL had a little more depth in both the Raceland and Russell games, GC comes out on top. They just broke down in the end of the games. Greenup should be a solid football team again this year. Tough district, but im saying a 7-4/7-3 preseason prediction. I think they can beat Ashland and Russell, the Raceland game being a bit of a toss up right now. These Jrs and Srs in Greenup County schools have played alot of football with and against each other and there have been some incredible match ups. Cant wait for football season to start!

One clarification on my earlier post on pg. 2 of this thread is that I had said / implicated that Coach Grizzle would run a wide open, throwing the ball all over the yard offense. I will say that any good football coach is going to run what his players are best suited to run, a H.S. coach has to coach to his talent. Coach Grizzle will imo be a good coach for GC, so he will adapt his offense, defensive to whatever will put his players in the best chance for success. My opinion is that it will be a good mix of run/pass but the coach will know that better than anyone on here and certainly far better than I.

Good luck again to GC and Scott Grizzle.

Bingo. But, I fully expect Scott to be more 50/50 or 60/40. What most don't understand is, you need better athletes to run the ball successfully, then you need to pass the ball successfully, in the offense we are talking about. Scott will use the short pass to get his best players in space, not because he has an NFL QB or three D1 receivers. Scott understands the offense, it will click. Defense will be the make or break for Greenup.

Will all the assistants stick around and help him? Who has been their defensive coordinator? Was it Mullins? If they stay as strong on defense they will be tough.

I found out the Greenup defense coach from last year is staying. There is one new coach, Adams from Boyd Co. to help with offense.

Mullins called the defense so not sure why you guys saying otherwise. He's one of the few coaches left in the country that called offense and defense. Yet again an example of how little Greenup thinks of football. You need a staff in football to compete. Daniel Armstrong to my knowledge was one of the first people the administration even hired for football to help Mullins other guys were teachers present there already or paraprofessional.

Armstrong called d the last half of the year. Dont know why your saying otherwise.

He has hurt feelings C21.

ok I didn't know that he did the last part of the season my apologies.
