June 9, 201610 yr Author Louisville City defender Ben Newnam given a well-deserved three match ban by the USL Disciplinary Committee yesterday for throwing a punch at an Orlando City B player during last Sunday's game.
June 22, 201610 yr Author Out at the stadium for Lou City ahead of the USA game. Louisville with a 3-0 halftime lead on Toronto.
June 22, 201610 yr Saturday was a huge win for FCC. They played about as poorly as I've seen them play and still found a way to win. That second goal was AWESOME to watch live. Winning a game where you are far from your best is awesome, IMO.
June 22, 201610 yr ^ It seems like the last two weeks FCC has played down to the opponents level. Have we ever scored more than two goals in a game?
June 22, 201610 yr Author Another week in the books and here are the ppg standings. I think everyone is between 12 and 15 games played now. We're starting to get some separation between the top three and the rest of the Eastern Conference... 1) Louisville City FC 2.27 2) New York Red Bulls II 2.15 3) FC Cincinnati 2.08 4) Charleston Battery FC 1.71 5) Charlotte Independence 1.62 6) Rochester Rhinos 1.50 7) Richmond Kickers 1.36 8) Wilmington Hammerheads FC 1.31 (edge out Bethlehem Steel FC for last playoff spot on goal differential if season ended today). If things ended today, that would be a matchup between FCC and the reigning champions in the first round. I think Rochester will eventually finish one or two spots up... but that's still intriguing. We're nearly halfway through the season. Lots of good games left to play.
June 22, 201610 yr ^ It seems like the last two weeks FCC has played down to the opponents level. Have we ever scored more than two goals in a game? I'm trying to think. I don't remember it off the top of my head.
June 27, 201610 yr Author With the Lou City/FCC draw and a New York Red Bulls II victory, there's a change atop the points per game standings. NYRB is also tied with Louisville in goal differential and has two games in hand. It's tight at the top. 1) New York Red Bulls II - 2.21 2) Louisville City FC - 2.19 3) FC Cincinnati - 2.00 4) Charleston Battery - 1.80 5) Charlotte Independence - 1.71 6) Rochester Rhinos - 1.62 7) Orlando City B - 1.40 8) Richmond Kickers - 1.33 Several games with significant implications in the next couple weeks: Rochester visits NYRB, Cincinnati travels to Rochester, Louisville hosts Charleston.
July 6, 201610 yr Author FCC and Lou City both had wins last weekend. Baby Red Bulls held to a draw by Rochester. Anybody in the stands for the FCC game last weekend? Bethlehem Steel played like it was a cold, rainy Tuesday in Stoke when they played Louisville a month ago. Ten in the box and defended like mad. Pretty similar against Cincinnati last Saturday?
July 7, 201610 yr Author Watched the second half of last night's FCC/Rochester game while having my coffee this morning. Playing Rochester is always frustrating because of their style, which is to clog the midfield and defend like crazy. They're not quite as impenetrable as they were the last couple years but They're solid. Looked like FCC had some chances but had trouble putting shots on frame from inside the box. Rochester has been Louisville's best friend this last week, taking points from the two teams chasing Lou City in the standings: FCC and the Baby Red Bulls.
July 11, 201610 yr Author End of a four game home stand for the Royal Purple; not quite what I was hoping for but I'll take it: 8 points with wins over Toronto and Montreal and draws with FC Cincinnati and Charleston Battery. I'm not surprised by the two draws against some of the top teams in the league but I wanted more at home, especially given the really poor decision to call Charleston's knocking the ball out of the keeper's hands a goal and not the clear foul that it was. Frustrating not to have all three points this weekend.
July 18, 201610 yr Author Well now, FCC. That was an impressive crowd over the weekend and I saw what Pardew had to say after the game. Very complimentary. Now... you have two jobs this week: take points from NYRB with a big effort on Wednesday and then lie down like dead possums on Saturday. Thanks, The Supporters of Louisville City FC
July 18, 201610 yr WLKY is going to broadcast the Louisville City FC vs. FC Cincinnati match on Saturday. I'll definitely be watching. WLKY to broadcast LouCity's FC Cincinnati showdown
