The urine scandal, one of the more hateful and flat out mean high school baseball scandals in the past decade imo

Let's stick to the topic at hand instead of re-hashing scandals. New year, new team.

team may have the worst Offense in NKY

That's a ridiculous blanket statement.

Not necessarily a new team, one player that was involved in the scandal was a junior last year and is still on the team this year.

No doubt the Dirty Birds will have to manufacture runs rather than waiting for the 3R HR like last year. That said, in HS you can manufacture runs more easily than in college or MLB. Look at CCH in past years. Philosophy was often "bunt until the opponent shows they can defend it." Perfectly valid approach and one that was often successful.

Baioni will have them ready to play sound fundamental baseball -- field, throw, move runners over, bunt, run the bases, throw strikes, etc. Team is made up of kids that have been successful at the Frosh and JV levels while those above them succeeded at the Varsity level.

Should be interesting.

IMO SR Ricky Raisor, JR Ethan Doty, and SO Drew Rom are as good as any other rotation in the 9th region. Raisor is very seasoned having started the regional final as a sophomore and has many big games under his belt. Doty came in the state quarterfinal and struck out North Bullitt's big-time slugger looking with the game on the line. Although Rom is still unproven at the varsity level, his first 3 innings of scoreless baseball last Monday vs Boone were excellent.

I agree with jpa that unlike last year's squad which averaged more than 8 runs per game (342 runs in 42 games), this year's Birds' squad will likely have to manufacture more runs than last year. That being said, the top of the rotation is excellent which gives them a great chance to repeat.

Who was the consistent power last year other than Ramey and to a slightly lesser extent Whitford? Are there no guys in the program currently that can leave the yard at any given time?

I think it's awesome that the question is even being asked, Coach B sure has brought the program a long way.

Joe Martin had a good amount of power last year as well. However i feel that Bowden, Mayhew, Kreeger, Finfrock, and Walkenhorst all have enough power to hit multiple home runs. Walkenhorst has gained an insane amount of muscle mass over the past year and i feel he is the biggest deep threat for this year's team

Will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I know that a few short years ago at the frosh and jv level there was not a lot of power, but they did have a good eye at the plate and did not strike out a lot. Two good positives to potentially outweigh a negative.

I agree and i also am interested to see how beechwood does in the region tourny, they have been very talented the past few years and haven't won the title, I wonder if this is their year

Birds will have to limit errors and improve hitting during the season. They have a loaded schedule so they will let be Tournament ready.
