New Jersey Bill Would Ban Texting And Walking In Public

Featured Replies

Shallow and misguided. No sense of logic, but feel contented that you'll have a plethora of sophomoric audience members with the mentality of 14 year olds high five you.

You're just such an intellectual superior to all of us peons here on BGP. Please forgive us for not being able to match your uncanny wit and intelligence.

Are you able to have any conversation without hurling insults at people?

Do you see any merit in discouraging and fining J-Walking?

The difference between this and J-walking is that J-walking addresses people crossing the streets in places that aren't designated. Banning people from using their cell phones on sidewalks is stupid.

Are you asking that question to me or yourself?

Do you see any merit in discouraging and fining J-Walking?

I do. Walking in front of a car that is moving is an issue.

*Insert you equating j-walking to texting and walking*

My response: If texting and walking causes someone to j-walk, cite them. If someone is walking down the sidewalk texting, who really cares.

Exactly. If someone walks out in the street with their head buried in a cell phone, cite them for jay walking. Because, that's what it is.

Completely new and different legislation for this is, again, stupid.

Really? How many names have I called you?

Careful guys. You're not being logical.

Next thing you know they will ban standing on one leg and....oh, never mind.

:lol2: :lol2: Maybe your User Name should be MyOwnBiggestFan.

Note elite enough, but good try.

Yeah, since ignoring the question posed to you and name calling people who disagree with you is so much more mature.

Please get off your high horse.

What was the question posed to me?

Why do I get the suspicion that you are one of the culprits who walk and text everywhere making others have to look out for you because you're too busy not paying attention?

Long ago a need was seen to have certain rules for pedestrians and motorists in order to keep some order and to avoid accidents. We now have a new problem that didn't exist years ago that needs to be adjusted to avoid accidents. Years ago I had the vision to see where this was headed and just like I thought, here we are. I also realize that many in the general public lack vision, so it follows that they're incapable of understanding.

Next time I get bumped into by a parent that turns to look at their kid I'm calling my legislator!!

Next time someone stops to tie their shoe in front of me and I have to move around them I'm calling my legislator!!

Next time someone is walking too slow in front of me and I have to move around them I'm calling my legislator!!

I didn't say that you did, but if you've got something to say, you don't hold back. Your tone isn't always diplomatic. You and others here that consider me having a high opinion of myself are regularly guilty of the very same thing.

My tone may not be up to your standards, but I certainly haven't stooped to name calling to get my point across. Maybe you should read up on the rules of BGP with regards to personal attacks.

Can we please stick to the issues and not each other.
