New Jersey Bill Would Ban Texting And Walking In Public

New Jersey Considering Ban on Texting While Walking - Fortune

New Jersey bill would ban texting and walking : TreeHugger

US state New Jersey could make walking and texting a criminal offence. - BT

This has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time.

Why is it my responsibility to pay attention for those too busy texting on their phones while walking down the street?

When I come across this, I purposely walk directly in their line until they have to come to a dead stop and look me in the face, then I give them a look that screams "Watch where the hell you're walking".

I'm all for the max of 15 days in jail next to a violent thug where it's encouraged that they get the crap relentlessly beat out of them daily.

How about you?

Kind of passive aggressive, aren't we?

:lol2: :thumb:

I think it's safe to assume that NJ could find a much better area of "concern" to crack down on... This is a waste of time and resources.

Saw a guy almost get hit today crossing Third St in Cincinnati. Was texting and walking on a red light and a guy ran the red light and just missed him. Stay alert, you're not the only moron out there!

I assume they will ban reading while walking as well.

That'll show 'em....Some old guy giving them a dirty look.

Government overreach at its finest

So because everyone presently hates my guts because I'm a radical pacifist, you're cool with the ever growing ignorance of humanity becoming such zombies to technology that we let the masses regularly mindlessly and dangerously disrupt pedestrian and automobile traffic because they're too damn dumb to pay attention?

Perhaps this article will help drive home the point.

Report finds growing dangers of distracted walking - CBS News

This is not even kinda sorta a problem. The voiceless social acceptance of this has helped this annoyance carry on far too long to the point that it's just considered normal because we're now so used to seeing it.

There's nothing normal about it as it is dumb as hell for people to do it, and even dumber that the general public would be OK with it.

So now you're going to spin every story so we can all see the errors of our ways? Good luck with that.

If they do, then wont all street signs, billboards, building signs and the like have to be taken down?

I don't like legislation that trys to punish people before anything happens . If typing while walking causes a wreck charge that individual for reckless behavior. But 99.9% of people who text and walk lead to no incident.
