3 Pt Line

Featured Replies

Is the 3 pt line at Rupp going to be HS distance or college? How much difference will it make?

They cannot officially play high school games with a college line. It will be fixed if it isn't already.

They will add the High School line to the court, but typically will still have the college one on their as well. I think having the college line also on the court hurts shooting percentages as you will see a lot of players subconsciously setting up and shooting from behind that line where they are used to setting up and shooting behind the high school line.

High school is one foot less than NCAA.

I assume they still do as I know they did several years ago they have the flooring at up for a HS length floor 84 feet instead of the 94 feet Rupp is for UK games.

The floor was no different in length that I can remember since I played there and have been there (on the floor the last 4 years). Much bigger floor than a normal high school floor. The only difference is they do add the HS 3 point line.

Thats what I am saying. The state tournament will be played on a 94 foot floor. It is no different from the regular college length, they just add the HS 3 line. Sorry for not being more clear. If that floor is 84 feet I will stand corrected and politely acknowledge I was wrong, but it is much longer than a regular HS floor and make pressing and breaking presses much different from local gyms.

I could be wrong, but I though a 94-foot floor was used in the SS. There has been discussion in the past about regional tourneys being played on college floors to the effect that this gave those region winners some advantage at Rupp. And that some of the SS teams will benefit from the bigger floor because of playing style.

What is an SS team??

Sweet Sixteen.

Nothing to do with Germany.

I'll be here all week. Try the veal.:thumb:

I'm sure UK has several floors that they could put down. Maybe using a college girls version? Are they the same as HS?

My son played in a big AAU tourney in Louisville at the convention center and they had laid out several collegiate floors that had different logos, etc.. The floor gets put together like a puzzle.

It is a 94 feet floor, every college is. The high school is 84 feet. They leave the college line and use a blue tape deal for the high school. The difference in footage on the floor is between top of keys and half court. Much larger area. The depth perception makes it seem different. When we pressed and played 1-3-1 it messed with us for sure, different trap areas.
