Most exciting players to watch for at state tournament?

Featured Replies

Haven't watched a lot of basketball outside of the 10th region this year, but like always I will be attending every game at the state tournament. Who are the most exciting players to watch amongst the field?

There will be a couple in the Mason County - Taylor county matchup.

@mcpapa yes I have seen Goodin and Sloan play last year. And ive played with Pig Williams and I know he's exicting to watch.

Ben Weyer - NCC

Taveion Hollingsworth - Dunbar

Darius Williams - Dunbar

Kenyi Bryant - Doss

Mercer Co has 4 guys that have all dominated some games this season. Will Hager is a 6-4 200 lb pt guard that takes it to the rim like a man.Trevon Faulkner 6-4 Soph guard that shoots the three well and slashes to the basket with extreme athleticism, will not hesitate to dunk in traffic which is always exciting. Dylan James 6-4 Jr is a dynamic 3 pt shooter who also has a soft touch inside. And then there is Malik Dow 6-5 Sr who has shown flashes of athletic dominance the past two years...can be a physically imposing presence....that's my take on your question. Hopefully they can all 4 play lights out Weds nite

James Boones numbers won't wow you but he is as likely to dunk on somebody as anybody in the tournament. The Christian County trio of Ware, Sebree and Edwards are good for a couple oos and awws a game. I enjoy watching Terry Taylor from Bowling Green. Obviously Goodin and Sloan are the best two combo in the tournament. Darius Williams, Taveion Hollingsworth, and Jordan Lewis are very quick and athletic. I haven't seen anybody else so I can't speak on them. I assume Mercer will be very entertaining and I've heard Lawrence gets up and down the floor a lot.

All depends on what you consider exciting. Is it flashy and athletic; is it the ability to control a game and do it all; is it a prolific shooter; is it an excellent leader? This Mercer roster has all of the above.

Their 2 seniors (Hager and Dow) will get their education paid for via basketball. That's not speculation, that's fact. James, a junior, will end up playing college ball as well. Faulkner, just a sophomore, will certainly have his education paid for due to basketball. Not often that you see a high school roster where you can say that about 4 of their starters.

Stupid question, but will teams be prohibited from dunking in warm ups? Love seeing the show.

Dunking is not aloud in warm ups at Rupp for the sweet 16. It's not suppose to happen at regular games either but they get away with it before the referees come out.

Can't dunk if the refs are on the floor.

Good thread hope we can hear from other posters on the players they have seen. I am writing all of these down and taking them to the game with me.

Austin Chaffins and Timmy Dalton from Lawrence Co.

The Christian County Trio. With Tyriq Edwards craftiness, Torrion Ware 3 point shooting and if hot can go on a streak and become the high school version of Steph Curry. And jaylen Sebree athleticism and all around game. They have to be one of the most exciting teams in the state

I'm looking forward to watching kids I haven't seen play this year:

Korbin Spencer-Elliott County-FR

Connor Hoskins-Buckhorn-SR

James Boone-Murray-SR

Thomas Booker-Bowling Green-SR

Terry Taylor-Bowling Green-JR

Kyran Jones-Bowling Green-JR(hopefully)

Caleb Taylor-South Laurel-SR

Jared Grubb-South Laurel-JR

Pig Williams-Mason County-SR

I'm also looking forward to watching South Oldhan and Owensboro Catholic.

And finally meeting my great great godfather @mcpapa

Robert and Timmy Dalton from Lawrence County. Both are guards. Both can get eye level with the rim. Its really impressive when they catch a rebound out of nowhere and dunk it back. I always thought the little guys dunking looked so much better.
