One thing that I think would help is if they are going to have the tournament during the week is to change the start time of the 1st game to 6:30. The 9th region does that. It would give those that work to 5 a fighting chance to get there (especially from the central part of the region).

Surprised at reasoning and it does appear rational at the expense of historical big Fri/Sat gates for boys. I would suggest an alternative that IMO could work well with one site (A) for both, or different sites (B).

Tues... Boys 1st round (location A)

Weds....Girls 1st round (location A or B)

Thurs....Boys 1st round (location A)

Fri........Girls semis (A or B)

Sat.......Boys semis (A)

Sunday..@ 3:00/ 5:00 Both girls and boys Championship Sunday at one location. 4 different teams playing for Championships at one location. Guarantees great crowds with unforeseen weather conflicts better managed with daytime event. Thoughts.

That would make so much sense...... Only problem would be having the host school for both championships. Or have the girls at noon and boys at 7 at their respective locations.

In some cases district winners may not have the capacity to host a game. See Augusta gym only holding 500 would pose a problem. Not a knock on their faculties just an observation

As far as I'm aware, Augusta's teaching and administrative staff are fine.

I've heard some coaches and ADs express that they dislike Sunday games/finals.

Due to weather, 10th had a split session on Saturday a while back. I think it was like 1 and 2:30 and then 6 and 7:30 or something like that. It worked well. Allowed people to grab a bite to eat and then get back for the games.

 

I liked the Saturday split session for the quarter-finals.

In my 70 years, I have learned that my personal likes often times need to be secondary to what is best for all ( like students not being out late on school nights, working class fans that need to get up early to make a living, and everyone that has hour long nighttime drives on secondary roads).
